It’s a hobby project. Nothing is mandatory. Just use an older version if the new one doesn’t work for you.

I thought at least here you'd be safe from insane dribbling ramblings. Would you kindly take this sort of rhetoric back to Faecebook where it belongs.
Re: Sorgelig You Have Given
It's like saying "Is having a MiSTer device mandatory"?
Ironically enough, for me, it's a resounding "yes!"
Also, maybe try to figure the actual problem out and bring back where you're stuck with it?

Honestly I don't even understand the sentiment. I love updating my MiSTer, especially lately when updates have included new cores and new features for old cores. It's the best part about MiSTer being an open source hardware platform. Anyone can come to the project and add to it, and every MiSTer user benefits from that work.

I think OP might be onto something. If multi-billion corporations like Microsoft, Nvidia, ATI, etc always release flawless updates and drivers which never break anything, surely one hobbyist dev should too?

Re: Sorgelig You Have Given
You can always fall back to a previous release. Anyways, I'm fully updated and not experiencing any issues so far.
Re: Sorgelig You Have Given
Yea that's how I see it, doesn't seem like there is any real venom behind it. Only thing is I don't see what issues OP is on about, maybe I got lucky but the updates have been flawless for me. Only thing that didn't work was the update script issues and it deleted the scripts I made myself and were stored in /etc/init.d .

...Ignoring the way you've worded this, I'm guessing you have a BlisSTer Board?
I was having problems when I updated last night. The new Linux clashes with the stock BlisSTer firmware (which isn't "officially" supported by the project, btw) but it's super easy to flash the new one in there. Just follow these instructions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VK39W--vClc
There. Now don't say no one tried to help you today.

If people are worried about things being broken, maybe it is time for 2 sdcards one you do not update and one you do.
My setup has been fine with the updates. Refreshing the Linux side of things is a welcome update too.

Or backup your stuff regularly, especially before updating, which is always a good practice.jfceklosky wrote: ↑Wed Sep 08, 2021 7:32 pm If people are worried about things being broken, maybe it is time for 2 sdcards one you do not update and one you do.
