Hello, I'm in the process of setting up a MiSTer (got the parts, just waiting for the board to arrive)
and I was told your discord channel is a great place to chat about the MiSTer and get help.
Alas, when I joined the channel (username: SteveZX81) it tells me I need to use a phone to verify, well I don't have a smartphone so is there any other way of verifying or should I just leave?
Thanks
Steve

The only phone I have is a BT phone hardwired into the wall, that's been there decades.

If you can receive SMS text messages, you can verify. Unfortunately if you don't, then you won't likely be able to get in. This was done on purpose because trolls have bombarded the server in the past with sock puppet accounts.

Hi Steve
It's been a long time since I had a BT landline however I do recall them being able to receive text messages.
The phone rings and a computerised voice speaks the message to you.
You'd need to write it down of course.
Whether or not this still works, I can't say but it's worth a shot.
Alternatively, as a fellow Brit, I'd be happy to give you my number to use and then send you the code.
That's entirely up to you though as I understand if you'd rather not go down that route

Yeah I'm pretty sure that still works - it certainly did earlier this year.Hackshed_Carl wrote: ↑Wed Sep 15, 2021 5:34 pm Whether or not this still works, I can't say but it's worth a shot.
It doesn't help if you're not prepared to give Discord your phone number, however.
