Hey there all smart people!
I´m a newbie that is looking to buy a mister setup this month.
I do have a problem though and that is i have a headphone amp (AMI musik DS5) that i really like with my Hifiman HE-400 headphones and is the only thing i use when gaming/music/movies.
And therefore does not have any other music devices anywhere near my gaming corner.
The AMI have three inputs usb/optical/coaxial S/PDIF.
My computer does not have optical/coaxial out so must use USB, my ps4 pro only have optical out so must use optical.
That leaves coaxial left for the mister but neither mister/analog/digital addon board have that
So have too ask is it possible to extract coaxial S/PDIF somehow?
I guess that it should be possible to solder in some wire/jack somewhere before the optical output since it should be the same signal only in light VS electrical form?
Maybe needs some caps/diodes/resistors added?
Maybe can take it from the mister somewhere?
I now how too solder small surface mount stuff so no problem there but can not read a schematic or "modify" anything without someone telling me what to use (only tried learning it for 25+ years, but to stupid ).
Coaxial RCA S/PDIF from the MiSTer/addonboard?

I do not think it will solve his problem: his amp has 3 inputs and I suppose he wants to leave the connections on at all time USB for PC, optical for PS4 which leaves only coaxial free.

With this converter he can use the free coaxial connection.

Re: Coaxial RCA S/PDIF from the MiSTer/addonboard?
Easiest? Maybe. Will work? Yes.
But also means one more (hopefully not needed) box and one more wallwort for 12V, and need too buy one more optical cable (no big deal though).

You could use a hdmi audio extractor. Something like this here https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01NBKTWT0/
We raise hopes here...until they're old enough to fend for themselves.

this is what I use with mister, Lindy HDMI extractor since after mega sg uses another smsl hdmi extractor for toslink, lindy hdmi extractor also offers coaxial spdif output. if you had i2s input on your dac, another option would be to get an io board with i2s pins and creating a custom cable to hook it up.
