Tetris The Grand Master?

Unread post by barfood »

I am wondering if there were talks (or dreams?) of eventually start work on cores that would enable running the Tetris Grandmaster games on Mister. As far as I can undertand, each game in the trilogy runs on very different hardware (the 3rd one runs on Windows XP...), so this certainly does not help.

TGM runs on what is basically an equivalent of a Playstation 1
TGM2 runs on SH-2
TGM3 runs on an x86 PC.

If a Playstation core ever comes out maybe someone will adapt it to run ZN-2 (and G-Net hopefully!) games.

That's probably the most realistic chance for TGM

The Psykio SH-2 platform has a good number of games on other than TGM2 too. Mostly mahjong and shumps. I forgot I even own one of them...

TGM2 is the best Tetris ever IMO.

Easily up there with Tetris and Dr. Mario (SNES), Tetris DS and Tetris Effect, but the progression and skill ceiling places it firmly at the very top for me.

I will buy a second MiSTer if this ever comes out.

With the PSX core official release around the corner, and the 32X core just released, I'm more hopeful that a TGM1 and TGM2 core could be released.

While it's not the real thing, I can confirm that this TGM ZN-2 to PSX conversion runs fine on the PSX beta core.

Yes I can confirm Tetris The Grand Master Port indeed works on PSX core. This was using the same rom files from the original packages in a playable format I believe.

This was from the early PSX Core release. Still works great today.

I confirm that this hack runs perfectly on the PSX core for TGM1: https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/5607/

Looking forward to more TGM ports in the future, but until then I'll be happily grinding TGM1 :)
