I only used 1 SD card and it works. If you want to try what I did, you can follow the steps in my previous post:

I'm have a 'first bug' -- not sure if anyone else gets this. Basically I'm loading the Human3.02 OS disk and the X68000_midi core, and then after it returns to the command prompt, if I just hit the return key enough, eventually the keyboard stop working. The mouse keyboard is fine. I can go to other cores and the keyboard is fine there, but coming back to X68000 I need to do a 'cold reset' to get the USB keyboard working again. It seems pretty consistent, that eventually enough typing will lock up the keyboard.

Made a short video showing this.

Hello, I can't manage to get any mouse recognized by the latest X68000 beta core. Is that normal?

syltefar wrote: Sun Jul 11, 2021 10:23 pm I managed to get started. Since it could be useful for other newcomers, I'll post how I got a few games to run:
  • I used the 2020-09-13 version of the core (linked from this forum thread):
    x68000_20200913.rar
  • I installed the RBF in /media/fat/_Computer, and moved x68000.rom to /media/fat/games/X68000/boot.rom
  • I put a disk image 'Tonton *.hdf' in the HDF and reset the X68000. I could now load a bunch of games from a menu.
  • I tested 16 games, 12 of them worked great, two of them didn't boot, and two of them had graphical glitches.
The display wasn't scaled to fullscreen like most other cores, but I managed to zoom my TV to compensate.

I will post a recording in this forum thread after I have tested some more games.

Please let me know if I'm doing something stupid. :D
Thanks, I got it working. I wish I could set a button in my m30 pad to not use a keyboard just to select the games and then start.bat

Also unfortunately in tonton romset the castlevania game, which I think is the main game in the platform, is not present :(

Hello mathieulh!
I got the same problem. Did you find a solution to get the mouse working? Does it need a driver within Human68k or so?

The Neo kobe collection has it as a HDF. The Ton Ton only seems to have it as floppies. Warning it takes along time to laod from floppy. After you choose the music just go and do something else for 3 or so minutes.

I'm running the x68000_midi core, which I believe is a beta. Is this a completely different beta core?

Not sure what everyone else is using, but the most updated version right now appears to be in the MiSTer-devel repo: https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/X68000_MiSTer

It has the FX68K CPU core as well as Jotego's YM2151 core, and more. I'll be using this one whenever the next release is out.

That's an older core. The one people are using has different options and the video/midi is much better. Now we need someone to compile the latest updates from yesterday.

Thanks. Looks like it works great. Only problem is, that it's analog video output is weird. My monitor (Eizo Flexscan L997, analog DVI input) can't handle it and displays a grainy shimmering mess. It looks like results of using a VGA cable with bad/no shielding. It's usable, but it is a horrible eyestrain. The older x68000_midi core does not have this problem.

this is shaping up to be such a great core.

This latest build nicely fills the screen on all games now, it's just missing the MT32PI hack add but it's all good.

The TonTon hdfs are great but a little hard to come by.

Get this instead: https://archive.org/details/mister_x68k

All single game HDFs incl Castlevania. Mount hdf and reset and you are playing in no time

This build is a great improvement. It is the first version that works with Chase H.Q. The speech sounds to fast, but I am not sure. I had to set the max refresh rate to 60 Hz in the ini for the core otherwise the core didn't sync on my TV.

This looks good, I might finally dip my toe into this core. But, for why didn't he zip the lot :)

CRT SCR$ Project - building a collection of high-quality photos of CRT displays
CRT ART Books - retro-gaming books with authentic CRT photos

You can get them in a single zip, just click on the "307 Files" button.

Please, could anyone share video_mode working with this core in a CRT?

I´m using this one, but everything is blurry:

[X68000]
vga_scaler=1
vsync_adjust=1
vscale_mode=1
video_mode=384,8,32,24,224,4,3,16,6048

It won't work on a 15khz CRT yet. Maybe in the future.

But if I try with this video mode:

video_mode=320,8,32,24,240,4,3,16,6048

I can get decent graphics in a CRT. Then is not possible to improve it?

This new version (X68000_20211108.rbf) seems better than the one I was using. I just fired up Galseed 2 and the image and sound are noticeably better.

Nemesis 94 still doesn't work though!

One problem might be that some games use a 256 line video mode. This page has video modes listed for some games. https://gamesx.com/wiki/doku.php?id=x68000:game_notes

Another thing I noticed is that turning on gamma correction can cause some video signal weirdness on this core.

Hope that helps.

So I grabbed [MiSTerFPGA] Sharp X68000 Starter Pack when booting I get a blank screen. I notice the images are HDFs when the github asked for HDDs and FDDs. Does this matter?

So far all I have is the rbf in the usual folder and a bunch of HDFs. Is this like the AO486 where it needs a boot rom? Also, I'm running mine off of primary sd since a kind soul provided me with X68000-JT51_20200913.rbf I suspect the midi32 rbf works as well? What else might I need to get the core started and running some games, finally am I good to run all X68000 titles off my primary sd? I'd like to avoid getting a secondary sd for now since my primary is 1tb and it's yet to even touch half.

Yes put the boot rom in the computer folder along with the rbf. And then load up x68000 , where it mentions hdf load up using that option, run hdf files from the normal games x68000 folder. Then hit reset and apply in the x68000 menu to load up the hdf.
