Is it possible to use original save from cartridges?

Unread post by AmintaMister »

Hi all!

If I buy Retrode2 a cartridge dumper (https://dragonbox.de/en/cartridge-dumper/retrode2.html) then can I, for example, to dump a save game from my original Zelda Link from the past cartridge, move it to MISTer and play the game from the original save?

Yes you can, but you will have to change the file extension before you transfer the save file to your MiSTer.
The MiSTer uses .sav for save game files, the Retode uses .srm .

Also make sure the save file matches the name of your rom.
Example If your zelda rom is called "Legend of Zelda, The (U).NES" then name your save file "Legend of Zelda, The (U).sav"

For more info on save file transfers check this video out
It is my great regret that we live in an age that is proud of machines that think and suspicious of people who try to.
