MiSTer fails to boot after updating

Updating renders my Mister completely unresponsive after power cycling-- the fan spins up, I can see a blue led, but nothing else. No video, no network access, nothing. I tried both the default update.ini and update_all.ini. No difference.

As long as I dont power down after updating, it will continue to work fine. I can reinstall from scratch with the latest Mr. Fusion (2.3) and it will work fine again every time, but updating will cause the above problem every time.

I did also try the fixes suggested in the above threads, but they don't change anything.

I just did an update yesterday and the same thing happens to me. No hdmi output either.

I’m going to try overwriting the files from an earlier release and see if that helps.

To fix my problem, I downloaded release_20210917.7z and did "Update Boot" from Mister SD Card Utility.exe and it boots again.

I dont know if using an older bootloader will cause any problems (haven't noticed anything so far) but at least it boots.
