Genesis Core Not Functioning After Update

Hello,

I have a Mister for few months now. This morning i ran an update all, but after that i can't run genesis games anymore. Other cores seem to run.

I don't know what to check to "repair" genesis core.

I request your help please.

When you say you can't run genesis games anymore, what exactly is happening?

After having choosing genesis core, i enter the menu to load a rom file, but the rom doesn't load i presume because the screen stays definitively black.

I’d try manually replacing the Genesis RBF with the latest on github and see if that fixes it.

If you are still having issues, take a look at this thread. Some good info on roms and region detection that may apply to your situation.
If not, what rom(s) have you tried...filename extension, region.
What is the setting for Region and for Auto Region?
And do you have a SDRAM module installed? If so what size?

Hello,
I tried US and EU roms. I used to play with this roms before update and they ran like a charm.
The file extension of the roms i used is .md
I tried also to replace the rbf file with the last git one with no more success.
I tried to change the region detection to file ext or header, same result.
I have a 128Mo ram module.

So, I tried second to last rbf file (20211126) and it runs ! After that i retried update all and it runs !
I don't know what happened yesterday after update.
So thank you all, my problem is solved.

Did you try shadow masks before? When the one you selected before is deleted by an update, your display will remain black.

I was having the same issue (loading a game played the music but gave me a black screen), and when I turned the shadow mask off it worked again. Thanks!

Glad to be of help! I thought I'd mention it, even though the problem here was solved, as I've fooled myself with this.

I'm having this issue as well and changing the genesis version hasn't done anything --- I'm not sure exactly what to do.
