Tearaway Thomas - Graphical glitching

Unread post by Swainy »

Just been playing Tearaway Thomas for the first time on my MiSTer. Unfortunately the game was glitching a bit in the graphics department. Can anyone else give it a try to see if the have the same problem please?

The floppy version in A500 mode runs ok. Could be one of the WHDLoad-too-fast or A1200 side related problems.

No I didn’t check UAE. Good news that the floppy version runs fine though

There are many games that have graphical glithces when started with WHDLOAD on a machine from the one expected by the game. But many got fixed throughout the years... And this one is 20+ years old !

So I'm pretty confident at this stage 99+% of the time, those issues are not due to the Minimig core (provided you disable the D-CACHE option).

Once checked, if the whdload slave is indeed the culprit, could you please file a bug here : http://mantis.whdload.de/main_page.php ?

If you cannot test, let me know, I'll do it.

I probably won’t get a chance to test until the end of the week I’m afraid.

Oh man, there is NO graphical glitch under UAE / 020 / AGA (so same config), with the very same hardfiles as on the MiSTer.

Could you file a bug here instead then ? https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Minimig ... Ter/issues

UAE is one thing, but it'd be best to test it on real hardware to make sure. Sometimes these WHDload installs have fixes for emulation. I might drag my WHD-capable A500 out later and see how it behaves there...

You're right, I remember encountering graphical glitches in Jim Power on my real A1200 and not under UAE...
So, let us know when you figure this out :)

It works fine loading from WHDLoad on my A500. So, I guess now to cover all the bases somebody with a real A1200 should give it a whirl.

(In any case, it was a good excuse to shove those pesky consoles to one side of the desk and reinstate the rightful Queen there ;)

If I get a chance this weekend I’ll get my A1200 out of storage and give it a try.

Just tried on A1200 with 060 and I am seeing gfx glitches around the big bear sprites.
Played 3 levels and did not see anything else wrong.
I also tried a few WHDLoad config options such as NoCache but that did nothing.
