Unfortunately not, even if minimig should support it the mister isn't. I tried also action replay 4 which should be compatible with aga hardware. There is hrtmon available but I haven't figured out how to use its trainer function.. The problem is that hrtmon requires start and end address to search. I tried with only 1 meg chip ram and address space 000000 0FFFFF but I get Illegal address error... If some amiga guru can help me would be great

I was not able to get the AR to work either. I'm using hrtmon. There are a couple of versions of it available, one of those contains patch that does a proper reboot, rather than a red screen, I think that's the one for MiST. You might want to try that one.

Please can you help me with trainer function? Using only chip ram what's the memory range?

You can start the search from around $2000 (since the first 1K holds things like autovectors, and stuff, so your trainer data is not going to be there) up to the 2MB mark if you set the chipram to 2MB mark. See the memory map below

Memory Map
$000000 - $07ffff 512 kB chip RAM
$080000 - $0fffff 512 kB extended chip RAM ("Big/Fat Agnus")
$100000 - $1fffff 1 MB extended chip RAM ("ECS Agnus")

Here's a working memory resident, unofficial "Action Replay IV":

https://www.planetemu.net/rom/commodore ... x-interpol

I only did a quick test using basic A1200 settings. I used to use this all the time on my real A1200 back in the good old days. I too was looking for AR support, hopefully this will do the job. Need to test it with other settings and in some games, but it definitely survives a soft reboot (not resetting using core but Amiga key combo) and you can enter AR & restart the program just fine.

Read the documentation on the disk for more information. Only AGA. I tested with 2mb chip & no fast RAM. If you intend to use it to save games I highly recommend using as little RAM as possible, use ADF copies of games not WHDLOAD (too much RAM) and use AGA fixed versions of games where available.

Will test it more when I get time. My memories of using it are now 20+ years ago so I'm unlikely to know answers but will help if I can.

This is my first post - hope it's a worthwhile one 😁.

EDIT:

Just did a quick test with AR 1.5 memory resident for OCS. Get disk image here:

https://www.planetemu.net/rom/commodore ... kers-ethic

I really haven't tested these beyond checking they'll survive a reset. This one was a PITA & didn't work with kick 1.3. To get it to survive reset I used 68000 CPY, OCS-A500, 1Mb chip, no fast and kickstart 2.05 rev 37.299. I tried using it in Mercenary but couldn't activate AR once the game loaded. Oh yeah, when you reset (soft using KB) it enters AR automatically, just type "X" & hit return to start booting whatever game ADF you inserted. Loading a workbench/CLI it definitely can enter AR so it fid survive resetting. May work for some non AGA compatible games but if definitely recommend sticking to AR IV on 68020 & Kick 3.1 with 1mb+ chip if it works.

Don't forget to read the documentation on the disk.

Thanks @Zigzag, I didn't know that workaround as it were. Time to get one part filing and +++ training! :)

hmmm i wish i was technically minded and also able to code stuff.. cos i wonder if it would be possible to use a snac type connection and create a small board/interface to connect to the original action replay carts?

Definitely not. Unlike the ways ordinary cartridges could be interfaced (by single-wire dumpers giving the illusion you're using the cart, but you're actually just silently dumping it ahead of execution), AR requires actual real-time interaction with the cartridge that would not be possible.
