Working 1440p monitors?
Working 1440p monitors?
Can anyone with a working 1440p monitor share their model? My own 1440p doesn't detect a signal when trying to use 1920x1440 from the mister. It takes 1080p alright, but the scaler isn't great. I'm thinking of replacing it anyway.

@phaedrus
You can try to change a bit video parameters : sync times, frequency.
Current :
1920 48 32 80 1440 2 4 38 185203
For example :
1920 48 64 128 1440 4 8 40 193300
or
1920 64 100 100 1440 16 20 50 200000
There is no rule. Some screens don't like certain frequencies because they are is too far from the set of known video modes. Maybe you can dump EDID and extrapolate from 2560x1440 mode parameters.

Thanks, I'll try to dig a bit deeper. The video mode parameters are all a bit greek to me so I didn't bother experimenting. When I saw that 1440p mode was a video mode option now I figured i'd give it a try.

Re: Working 1440p monitors?
1440p is integer scale of 120p, 144p(gameboy), 160p(Gameboy Advance), 240p(most game consoles), 360p, 480p(VGA and computer modes and de-interlaced content), 720p. Modern pro consoles and PCs have native 1440p output or internal resolutions. 1440p is the holy grail of integer scale resolutions. 480p is probably the biggest feature as it will fill the screen if you do only integer scaling. Having the Gameboy and portable resolutions is a plus. Simply put 1440p is the resolution that unites modern and retro gaming as modern pro consoles and PC games target 1440p. Xbox 360 / PS3 are 720p so that is 2X. Really it is the resolution. PC gamers like it because unlike with the 4K screens you can get monitors with the higher resolution and high refresh-rates so 140hz+ screens can be found so 1440 is the sweet spot for PC gaming as well.
Fear is the mind killer!

@Phaedrus, can you let us know which cores you tested with vsync_adjust=2? Did you have to switch back to vsync_adjust=1 for any of them? Thanks!
Re: Working 1440p monitors?
I tested genesis, snes, turbo grafx, gba, mega cd, neo geo, master system as those are the only ones I have any interest in.
One thing I found for the LG monitor was that you have to turn off the adaptive sync mode to unlock the "just scan" screen size option which is pixel for pixel of whatever it gets fed.

I tested the Samsung Odyssey G7 27" and it works. Just had to turn off 16:9 stretch in monitor setting. The monitor's curve is weird in some games.

Re: Working 1440p monitors?
I use this with my AOC U34G2 using PBP (filling half of the screen with 1720 pixels):
On the Win10 side, I use HRC to quickly change resolutions between 3440 and 1720 horizontal pixels:video_mode=1720,128,184,312,1440,1,3,46,209550

I also added a 2-port KVM switch, so I can quickly switch between my PC and my MiSTer.
