PlayStation Core SPU audio For Single SDRAM Released
The latest release of the PSX core now supports in game audio with just one memory module, however CD audio is not yet implemented. Just amazing progress from Robert!

Re: PlayStation Core SPU audio For Single SDRAM Released
In the PSX menu, how can I switch between one and two SDRAM options? I actually have two 128 SDRAM modules and want to try it that way, to compare. Does it automatically detect the second ram module?

You need to get the core from the #test-builds channel, not the one in #unstable-nightliespierreangelique666 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 22, 2022 7:46 pm In the PSX menu, how can I switch between one and two SDRAM options? Re: PlayStation Core SPU audio For Single SDRAM Released
Does this still require a one-off new Main or has all that been rolled into the current release?

Re: PlayStation Core SPU audio For Single SDRAM Released
I use the current Main from the official repository and it works.
Re: PlayStation Core SPU audio For Single SDRAM Released
No CRT support any more?, or at least it doesnt work with the latest build
Re: PlayStation Core SPU audio For Single SDRAM Released
CRT works fine. I use direct video and it has finally been fixed - no more lines across the screen.
Re: PlayStation Core SPU audio For Single SDRAM Released
How do you set the core to use direct video, is there soming in the mister.ini you adjusted?

I'm using today's test core (20220123) and booting the BIOS, I can't help but think I'm missing a couple of channels of audio (the last few notes in the boot are missing or extremely quiet, not quite sure). I wonder if it's just me?

Re: PlayStation Core SPU audio For Single SDRAM Released
I noticed when I would boot up without a game I wasn't hearing the chimes after the initial deep synth sound, but only when it dropped to the purple memory card/cd boot screen. If I booted to a game I would hear the fading chimes at the end of the boot before the game starts up. Could be how the original system was, don't want to hook my PS1 up right now to test though. Still a lot of details to work out on the core though so there are plenty of small issues here and there, amazing that it's working so well this quickly though!
Re: PlayStation Core SPU audio For Single SDRAM Released
I noticed it too. Startup sound is not quite right.
It is kinda expected at this stage really. We just got sound at all and it is really surprising how well it works. Emulators struggled with PSX sound for years.

Yes, the normal way. Direct video and composite sync is enabled in mister.ini. Crt works the same in all cores, including this.
And regarding the boot chime - the final mysterious sounding part of it is indeed missing.

BIOS sound is not fully working yet with single sdram. Ingame should be way less problematic.
Re: PlayStation Core SPU audio For Single SDRAM Released
Latest build, Direct video and composite sync is enabled in mister.ini, still black screen and still only working when tested via HDMI.

Make sure you use the unstable nightly and not a test build if you want analog video output.

Thanks for all you’re work. Me and my daughter ( 8 ) playing crash bandicoot 2FPGAzumSpass wrote: ↑Mon Jan 24, 2022 5:46 am BIOS sound is not fully working yet with single sdram. Ingame should be way less problematic.
We played the whole 1st lvl saving our game but today saves blank
Tried again today but clicked save memory cards and it works. Is there a way when you save in game it saves to sdcard or do i have to remember to click save memory cards before turning off or changing core ?
Is it autosave is that the memory card save ?
Total noob sorry
Thanks
Re: PlayStation Core SPU audio For Single SDRAM Released
you need to save (or autosave) to write the memorycard back to your storage device before turning off the MiSTer, else all written data gets lost as i believe it is temporarily stored in RAM before written to external media.
that goes for all cores that support save writes.
that goes for all cores that support save writes.
Re: PlayStation Core SPU audio For Single SDRAM Released
OMG.. not even 24 hour later and the bios sound is fixed.
Bravo.......
I know its alpha but is there a way to remove the flickering top and bottom of screen on crash bandicoot 2 without enabling fastboot , just love the bios boot screens and sound.

Re: PlayStation Core SPU audio For Single SDRAM Released
1. create a savestate with fastboot directly after reset
2. turn off fastboot and reset
3. watch the BIOS bootup
4. when BIOS is done, load the savestate
5. Enjoy
or
1. wait for some months
