I got a preassembled MiSTer from MiSTer Addons and the MiSTer works flawlessly for me with every controller I've thrown at it, except this one. The controller's home button does flash, so it is being recognized (maybe standby or sync mode), but when I try to map the buttons, it doesn't work. There's a few other threads that have issues with Xbox controllers so Xbox controller support in general doesn't work in MiSTer currently.
I think another problem is that the connection is USB-A. I don't know if that's completely the reason it doesn't work, but it's weird that it detects the controller, but you can't map anything. It's strange, because this may be the only 8BitDo controller that doesn't work on MiSTer afaik.
Is there any way to fix this? Should I buy a USB-A adapter? Do we just need to get Xbox controllers supported in MiSTer? This controller looks like an awesome all-purpose controller and I'd love to be able to use it in MiSTer please
