Ok, I'm trying pretty hard to get this to work and seemingly getting very close, but can't quite get it to work. I have done the following:
- Installed the recommended version of UniVBE (Release 6.53)
- ran the two config lines given above
Everything is installed to the default directory, C:\SDD. That said, when I run uvconfig
by itself in the dos prompt, I get this info:
Code: Select all
Graphics Chip: Tseng Labs SuperVGA (ET6000) with -1 KB
RAM DAC: Tseng Labs ET6000 Internal 24 bit DAC
Clock Chip: Tseng Labs ET6000 Internal Clock
The above graphics card has been detected, but is not currently supported.
SciTech Display Doctor will not work with your graphics card, so no drivers have been generated.
So, the problem seems to be that the graphics card being detected is incompatible with the software...
Does anyone have any ideas of how I could fix this? Thanks for any help!!
EDIT: Ok, so for some reason when I redid the settings again, they actually did successfully change it so the card was detected as an ET4000....that said, I still get the same result and neither FDOOMVBD or FDOOMVBR work when I launch them. The initialize the WAD, but then I just get a black screen with some faint garbage on it
Another weird thing is, I run those config settings, but as soon as I reboot my VHD, none of those settings stuck and I have to redo them to get UniVBE to detect an ET4000 again...could this be a core issue? Later on, I'll try doing this in some alternative VHDs to see if I see any difference.
EDIT 2: OK, After some help from discord users and a bunch more tries, I got it working!! That said, while FastDoom certainly saw improvements, I'm not seeing the FPS counter go nearly as high as what Flynnsbit indicated above. It seems like FDOOMVBD gives me closer to 35fps stable when running with UniVBE as compared to without, but I'm not seeing it go much higher than 35.5fps. Maybe I'm still doing something wrong or maybe the numbers that Flynn provided are max FPS and not average?
