MT32 Direct Wiring from Pi Zero 2 to DE10

Unread post by aeronius »

Apologies if this has been answered. I know it's been asked but I didn't see a concrete answer anywhere.

Anyhow I'm adding an mt32 Pi to my MISTer setup. I have a Pi Zero 2 on the way from Pimoroni and am trying to figure out how to hook it up to the DE10 directly as I don't use an IO board. I'm rubbish at reading schematics but can read a diagram okay and can manage my own custom cabling.

Using the interface pinout table from the MT32 Wiki and the pinout guide from the DE10 manual, I created this diagram to plot out the wiring. I was hoping someone who's more knowledgeable than me in such things could look it over and tell me if I have everything right. For example, I don't understand why the data line on the Pi (pin 3) is going to the clock line on the DE10 (pin 1). I'm ignorant about such things but would rather be set straight than do something that fries a board!

For what it's worth, I'll be using the simple button scheme, and potentially adding one of those I2C OLED screens.

Any assistance would be much appreciated!

Here's mine, in an old LaCie NAS enclosure.
No buttons.
5V and GND wired from Pi GPIO, soldered to the back of power socket on the DE-10. Wasn't sure if Pi would put to much load on the DE-10's GPIO pins.
