Case for MT32pi + Raspberry Pi 3B

Unread post by retro »

Is there a 3D printable case for MT32pi + Raspberry Pi 3B?

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4777179 is the closest thing I could find, but it's not designed for the Pi 3B. Does anyone have one to share?

Or point to a location where I can purchase said case?

Thank you.

I'd be interested in a solution for this as well.

I have a 3B+ that I never got around to using, and I'd like to turn it into an MT32pi.

Thanks for the recommendation :)

Unfortunately Makerhawk doesn't have any distributors here in Malaysia, and the Amazon UK product page doesn't ship here :(

Good to know that there's at least a solution out there

Jerry-rigged this with a generic RPi 3B+ case, and some old standoffs from the Terasic DE-10 Nano.

Waiting for GPIO extensions to arrive before experimenting further with the Rpi case.

GPIO extensions didn't work out, the MT32pi failed to respond after flashing the MT32pi logo

Definitely the extension's problems, as removing it and connecting the MT32pi back to the Raspberry Pi solved the problem

Realized I didn't need all the standoffs from the DE10 Nano either, so I have a better fit now...

Still not entirely happy as I would like an enclosure

Anyone here able to design a 3D-printable one, and share the STL?

I am willing to pay for the design :)

I ordered this from AliExpress for $8 https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001936477582.html

If that doesn't work, I will go with your recommendation, since it's available locally for MYR68 (around £12)

Do the washers on the mt32pi sit flush on the case?

there is a slight gap.. but we're talking <1mm.. not enough to be an issue.. i've had mine a year, no probs, plus you don't need any heatsinks on the pi.. cos the case acts as one.

Received my copper case... fit is 99% perfect, there is still a very small 1mm gap between the MT32pi and the screws for the copper heatsink, but I can live with it.

The heatsink should be waaayyy more than enough for the MT32pi :)

Not really a case but this is my setup.

It's a Raspberry Pi 3B+ on the bottom with 11mm standoffs between the pi and the mt32-pi and more standoffs under the pi.

Darn, I have that same case (no cape yet though). Using it with just a few wires directly toward a de10. So if I get the same cape I'll have exactly the same problem (the need for extension).

I wonder which part of the extension is causing problems, i would be open to soldering longer pins.

Slim metal case for Raspberry Pi 3B or 3B+.

Purchased on AliExpress. Link unavailable because item is out of stock.

mt32-pi fits perfectly on top of it.

Highly recommended!
