Has anyone heard from Josh recently?

Both his twitter and patreon have been silent for a while... anyone know where he went?

That's great to hear. With everything else going on in the world I just assumed something 'happened' - glad to hear he is doing his thing.

The Cave 68K core got updated some 5 hours ago today to the newest MiSTer firmware.

Is anyone here comfortable with Scala as to compile the .rbf?

All of the 1st party developed ones, except for Donpachi:

DoDonpachi, Dangun Feveron, ESP Ra.De., Guwange... aand Uo Poko :)

That said, all games bar the publicly released DoDonpachi mras, have issues. I'm glad that nullobject turned his attention again at the core; it was the one that got me into MiSTer in the first place.

What are some of the issues? I've been putting off subbing to his patreon for the betas since it seemed abandoned, but maybe it's worth while now?

Mostly the fact that sprite scaling (zooming) has yet to be implemented. Also some issues here and there with tile alignment and popping sound.

All except Guwange (which has severe timing issues), can definitely be called playable. Whether that alone makes it worthwhile to chip in, is up to you. I'd personally also factor in Josh's general understanding of crowd funding, before making the decision.

is there a possibility to get the Dodonpachi Trainer working on the recent cave core? Unfortunately I can only get it working with Arcade-Cave_20210420.rbf.

https://github.com/originalgrego/ddonpachj-trainer

thank you for that great core, nullobject!

Has anyone heard any updates on the Cave Core? I saw nullobject was working on Hotdog Storm in Oct last year but haven’t seen any updates since.

He is still active on GitHub. His last update on the Cave core was in December.

I think he had some illness in his family. He's made good progress, but it would be nice for a few more social updates on what he's doing!

No pressure on him though, someone else can pick up the mantle and work this core though!!!!
