Gameboy Overclock?

Unread post by geiger9 »

I'm wondering is it possible to have an overclock feature on the Gameboy/GBC core. I don't ask this to demand it be implemented because I respect the developers and their time, but just wondering is it even possible.

I was playing Mega Man 5 on the Gameboy recently and woo boy it sure could use a faster cpu.

It seems like it’d probably feasible, we just need a dev that wants to do it ;)

In theory, what it needs is the fastforward feature to only affect the CPUs clock enable, while the other components still receive the old clock enable.

Keep in mind that Gameboy games are sometimes(often?) timing dependend, so wrong speed and random crashes will happen.
