It is also used in Gorf, Wizard of Wor and Reactor.

Re: Game & Watch Core
Any update on the Game and Watch Core? I was looking at the github page and could not locate the .rbf core
Re: Game & Watch Core
I never understood why they give the G&W CORE and this games pack.
the core is taking only .BIN and these games extension are not supported by this core.
at this time, only Donkey kong JR is supported.

Re: Game & Watch Core
These look lovely, great to see Pierco is back looking at this core. Hopefully it is possible to do the later more advanced G&W games within the core also.
Hopefully the core is developed in such a way that it could be used as a basis for other LCD game cores as well. I would love to see a core for the Zelda Game Watch (not to be confused with Zelda Game & Watch) one day

Re: Game & Watch Core
Absolutely, I have a small collection of LCD games from Nintendo, Gakken, Bandai, Casio and other brands, as well as VFD tabletop games. A lot of them are still quite fun to play. They have interesting varied themes and cool artwork.
Re: Game & Watch Core
That Donkey Kong Jr screenshot looks mint!
Regarding the question about if other G&W have been dumped, there was a MAME article in Retro Gamer mag some months back and there was a G&W MAME subsection. Seems like many G&W have been dumped and hi res scans done.
Would also love to see the dual screens. Zelda has a lot of depth for a G&W game.

Re: Game & Watch Core
The Donkey Kong dual screens are great as well. I have the second Donkey Kong one, it looks really cool and gameplay is quite interesting, having to traverse back down the level after releasing one of the locks on Donkey Kong.
Re: Game & Watch Core
Nice!!
I do have a 'hero and princess' from Tandy that it was never preserved. But I'm not fully sure how they do it.
I tried by doing photograhs but, it does not look quite right.

I love the varied designs and topics of these classic games. These are a few games from my collection, from the same casio series. Astro chicken is the most fun and weird one of these.
The chips in them are usually glob-tops, I guess they very carefully remove the glob to get to the chip. Not sure if that is enough to get all the game logic as well.

Such a cool idea to sync the time like that. Now we will be able to use the MiSTer as an alarm clock

This would actually be nice if you have one of the little iPad screens sitting on your deskLamerDeluxe wrote: ↑Fri May 06, 2022 8:28 pm Such a cool idea to sync the time like that. Now we will be able to use the MiSTer as an alarm clock

Re: Game & Watch Core
That is a good idea, many of these games have an attract mode that is fun to look at. I remember staring at the Donkey Kong Jr.'s one, that a classmate had when I was a kid, for quite a while, these games were so magical at the time.Lightwave wrote: ↑Fri May 06, 2022 11:00 pmThis would actually be nice if you have one of the little iPad screens sitting on your deskLamerDeluxe wrote: ↑Fri May 06, 2022 8:28 pm Such a cool idea to sync the time like that. Haha, sadly, no, I know that one as well Finished Space Quest 3 at the time, one of my favorite point and click adventure games.pgimeno wrote: ↑Sat May 07, 2022 12:56 amNot related to this Astro Chicken, right?LamerDeluxe wrote: ↑Fri May 06, 2022 9:05 am I love the varied designs and topics of these classic games. This game came out long before that. You have to push the 'astro chickens' into garage-like spaces, sometimes they get angry and start chasing you. There's a Pac-Man style warp tunnel to help escape them. Walls are added at later levels. The funny thing is that there is a little robot that tries to help but fails a lot and often gets in the way.

Re: Game & Watch Core
I tried to run the last available build but I don't know how to name the folder under "Games".
Tried it with GnW, just like the core, but no luck.
Maybe someone figured this out or I just overlooked/overread it?
Thanks to all and best regards, Alex

Re: Game & Watch Core
Tip
To find out the games subdirectory name to use for a specific core:
Start the core.
Open the OSD.
On the left side, in the vertical white band you will find the name to use, respecting capitalization for a case sensitive file system.
Known exception Minimig -> Amiga.

Re: Game & Watch Core
The version I have is very old, from the time it was initially "released". I tried GameAndWatch but it did not like it. When you open the OSD does it say Game & Watch or GameAndWatch?

Re: Game & Watch Core
Yes the repository is old so I suggest you wait for an update, I will do my best to release it soon. About the game directory, I can't remember the exact name but it should match the conf string in the main core file which is "Game & Watch".
