Toaplan System 2 Board
http://www.system16.com/hardware.php?id=967
Is anyone working on this board? Seems like it is in NullObject's wheel house and whoever did the recent Toaplan games (Truxton, Hellfire, etc.) but I don't recall hearing about anyone specifically working on this board.
If you look through that game list, you can see this is one of those holy grail boards with a lot of the best early 90's shmups (Batsugun, Battle Garrega, etc.) and I'd be surprised if there isn't someone working on it.

Re: Toaplan System 2 Board
Pramod Somashekar is indeed working on the V2 hardware with a focus on the Raizing boards in particular (I believe he's working on Batrider last reported)
Problem is, people have been so pushy on him that he had to lock his Twitter feed, and now it's pretty spotty to know where he's at.
Sometimes he's communicating with Jotego, so you can follow his progress by the replies. It's been a long while though

Re: Toaplan System 2 Board
that set of arcade games from Toaplan are some of the greatest SHMUPs and would definitely get the attention of collectors and enthusiasts
but, i also understand MiSTer core development is a side project for some people and doesnt have their devoted attention like a full time job would. im sure we will see Toaplan V2 on the MiSTer someday tho!

Re: Toaplan System 2 Board
It's described as "Early Alpha Preview" in the readme, so definitely don't be surprised if there are issues with the core at this point. Still nice to see though

Re: Toaplan System 2 Board
Awesome! Seems very playable; some sprite artifacts here and there (vertical banding/missing 'stripes' of pixels when shooting), but all in all I'd say it's in a very presentable state already. Also maybe a tad too fast? I'm not 100% certain. Pr4m0d is apparently relying on JT's framework as well, so no support for 256 phase filters yet (although that's imminent I hear).lsnderick wrote: ↑Thu Jun 02, 2022 1:19 pm Pramod Somashekar just released first beta for testing! https://github.com/psomashekar/pr4m0d-MISTer-bin
Make sure you're using the 0.229 merged romset (batrideru), so edit the .mra accordingly

Re: Toaplan System 2 Board
Sure, if you extract batrideru.zip (as well as batrider.zip) from the 0.229 split dump. I think it'd be a bit inconvenient though, having to download 68GB just for this
Silly me, of course you can split the set yourself ...but is it really worth the effort, instead of just deleting a single character from the .mra?

Re: Toaplan System 2 Board
Before the post mentioning editing the mra I already had downloaded the rom from 0.244 merged and it works. As I don't really understand all this mame stuff do I have to do something like changing the version in the mra from 0229 to 0244?

Re: Toaplan System 2 Board
No, I think 0244 CRC doesn't match that of the 0229 set. I got it working only once with the 0244 set, and then upon reboot, it would continuously throw 'bad rom' errors in the test screen. 0229 works fine.

Re: Toaplan System 2 Board
As I said I have no idea of what I am doing but with the original mra and the 0244 merged rom it works. I rebooted my MISTer and it still works. So for the time being I will leave it like that. When the core become official things should be sorted out.
Speaking of new arcade there was an update to SMS arcade which now supports Megumi Rescue (Japan) and needs megrescu.zip. So far no luck finding that one. I guess I will have to wait for mame getter being updated.

Re: Toaplan System 2 Board
At this stage it cannot be the rom because the rom has to be loaded first which is shown by a popup with a progress bar.
Are you using a KB or a controller?
Let start by the beginning:
Boot you MISTer and describe step by step what you do to start the game.

Re: Toaplan System 2 Board
I start the mister fpga, I go to the menu arcade I select '' armed Police bartrider'' and after nothing happening when I insist there is a message error not found '' the rbf''
Re: Toaplan System 2 Board
The name of rom is '' batrider. Zip'' the name of mra is' 'armored police batrider'' and the name of rbf '' batrider. Rbf

On passe en PM au lieu d'encombrer le forum. Ce que je veux savoir c'est comment tu fais. Tu demarre ton MISTer, tu as le menu avec Arcade, Computer ... Comment tu naviges ca. Reponds par PM.

Re: Toaplan System 2 Board
Battle Bakraid beta has been released! \o/
Some advice for getting the core to run: "Did you turn it off and back on?" It's the first time this staple 'IT support' quote has got some merit
For some strange reason, SDRAM retains data and that's not good for the particular core; just power the MiSTer off (not just reboot), and then everything will run fine.

Re: Toaplan System 2 Board
ive been playing alot of Bakraid and Batrider over the past couple weeks, and wow,
the lineup of games on the Toaplan System2 board really are in the top tier of SHMUPs
they may not have the bullet hell style of a Cave 68k, or super polished look of a CPS2 title, but Bakraid & Batrider are very approachable games as a beginner and are just plain fun and never overstay their welcome. the music, the animations, the bosses!
i know these games are still in an early beta stage and things will get more accurate as time passes.
but as it is, im very impressed, and cannot wait to see this core get as close to the PCB as possible
