Check the game you're trying to run against this spreadsheet to see if it's a game that has known issues. For that matter, a lot of games that will run take longer than usual to load, or require you to quickly button past FMV, or require multiple resets before they come up.

Remember that this core is not in release status.
It is not in Beta status.
It is not even in Alpha status.

This is a developer work-in-progress, and there shouldn’t be any expectations of it at this point.

Absolutely appreciate this is pre alpha code dshadoff. As I am in the software development business for a corporation, I am used to seeing work at this stage and understand the time and effort that goes into this. We all know the situation the developer is living through and wish him and his country a speedy and successful end.

From the clear instructions given and the prebuilt rbf, Im still yet to boot a game to even a broken state, therefore wondered if it was something like single BIN/CUE which work and not multiple BINs which is what I have.

I will continue to play around with this, and of course provide feedback in the correct forumns, as here we are just users and not testers. :)

As a spot of extra info, the Japanese BIOS is showing correctly, just the Checking disc format message is show after trying to load and rebooting.

Understood. But not all anxious participants will be in the same position as you; I wanted to set their expectations appropriately. Once an RBF is posted, there can be many people without such a background who are excited to use it and become frustrated when they (not surprisingly) struggle.

Have you updated your main mister as well? No disc functionality sounds like what I was getting before I downloaded the latest unstable nightly main mister.

Amazing work, srg320! I hope you're safe and well.

If you're reading this, is there any chance of making nightly builds of the core available at some point?

My MiSTer.old file was for some reason loading instead of the "MiSTer" filename which was renamed from the unstable file.
All solved now, srg320 - You are the light Ukraine and the world needs right now. We can never repay you or your country for the sacrifices it is making.

C-R-T wrote: Thu May 26, 2022 9:02 am Here is the Saturn rbf (single RAM version). Put it in the cores folder and then download Sega Saturn BIOS v1.01 (1995)(Sega)(JP)(M6).bin and rename it to boot.rom. You also need the latest Mister unstable build: https://github.com/MiSTer-unstable-nigh ... tBuild.zip

FAQ here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1aED ... BTpHw/edit
where do I put these files of unstable mister on sd?

I always use update all script.

Put the Mister file in the root of the SD card. Replace it with the original (you have to rename the nightly build to MiSTer if it has another name).

When you load a game, the Saturn splash screen will show, and then you will be on the CD player screen. This is when you choose "load application", the icon in the top left corner, to start the actual game.

No. The link provided is not the best.
Go to https://github.com/MiSTer-unstable-nigh ... ble-builds.
Scroll down to the latest version which is MiSTer_unstable_20220527_14b06d at this time.
It has to be renamed MISTer and replace the one on your SD card.

Edit: today there was an update to MISTer main. Does this include what is necessary for the Saturn core?

Do we need 1 BIOS file per region like on the PSX core to play different regions?

I am using the one recommended here, just remember to change the region on mister menu, because otherwise there is a text saying the console is not compatible with the region

You can also use a region free bios to make things simple

Does the universal BIOS have the Japanese or Western booting screen?

You can pick whatever you want. I personally use the USA version but thinking of changing to the V-Saturn region free version for something different but at the end of the day it doesn't matter but I do like English menus

oh really? I don't remember seeing any English using my white Japanese Saturn when looking at the memory card and clock menu area. I'm just too damn lazy to actually hook it back up and check

In the settings, you'll eventually reach the language and you have 6 choices.

I 'm using the MISTER from ANTONIO VILLENA.
this core doesn't work at all with it.

I believe it is due to the RAM used (2 and 4 blocs)

so no SATURN for me ...
