Text corruption in original Leisure Suit Larry

Unread post by thisisamigaspeaking »

Running the original Leisure Suit Larry (not the VGA remake) there is some corruption that happens to the text or the box around it. Does this happen in any other games? Anyone know what the cause might be? Surprising that all the graphics are working but not the text.

I don't have certain knowledge of this, but I think the AO486 core only does VGA graphics. If you're running a game in EGA or CGA mode, graphic glitches are pretty likely.

There seems to be a "garbled text" bug with older pre-VGA Sierra games when played on newer VGA computers.
Graphics Bugs

Problem - Garbled Text:
Some of the newer graphics cards might garble the text in these games and make it unreadable. This problem will occur on Windows 95/98/ME as well.

I never saw garbled text on my real VGA PC's at the time. Not on my 386sx with a no-brand 256KB VGA clone not on a 486DX2 with a TsengLabs ET4000.
