Gran Turismo 2 60 FPS Cheat

Unread post by Duffygag »

Hello guys, not very familiar with PS1 or Cheat codes either, I have heard there is the possibility to play GT 2 with 60fps, but that cheat code is not on the long list I have available within Mister cheats, I have found some gamesharq codes online, is there a way to convert those for Mister ? I have seen a page for converting but Gamesharq was not on the dropdown menu for conversion.

Thanks!

I never heard of such a cheat, are you sure that the 60FPS isn't for the PC version of the game?

I think the cheat code you are referring to is used with the Duckstation PC emulator, which can force the emulated PSX CPU to run faster, so it won't work with Mister.

However, the original GT ( not GT2 ), had an official "Hi-fi" mode, which means 60 fps, but you must unlock it by winning races, and works only with a few tracks that have been custom made with a lower detail. I guess this won't be a problem with Mister, if the original PSX could do it.

Maybe you can try a cheat code to unlock Hi-fi mode in GT1, instead.

Yeah, from what I read the real PSX is not able to run the 60FPS (maybe with the Turbo CPU option enabled in the PSX core? I don't know). While looking this up I stumbled over an extensive GT2 mod that sounds very good, I think this might be interesting for others (didn't tried it myself so far):

Can confirm gt2 had a 60fps mode but if I recall you need to win all the championships to unlock it.

I did it back in the day (by finishing the game) before I knew it existed. The game tells you it is unlocked when you achieve it. As above it only works on some tracks that have been added in a lower detail version.

The mister PSX core should handle it I suspect you just need to unlock it. There’s no cheat code I know of for it.

You can maybe download a memory card with a completed game save on it.

Are you sure ?

There is no high-resoltion mode (or GT Hi-Fi) in GT2. No GameShark code will unlock it, so you're stuck with the regular frame rate and resolution
