So go ahead a re-flash your device following the procedure from here:
https://github.com/venice1200/MiSTer_tt ... led-device
Try at first justIf this doesn't work tryCode: Select all
./installer.sh FORCE
But make sure you INI files are back to default!Code: Select all
./installer.sh FORCE HWESP8266
Means set ROTATE="no".

my advice is to return that screen to the "seller" and make one for yourself with the help of the forum

Re: tty2oled Soft&Hardware Add-On (Shows Core based Pictures on a Display)
I have no more ideas as everything works with my 8266.
Could you try again now what happens if you activate ROTATE.
If you can, make a video please.
Maybe someone else who is using Antonios Display can confirm that a non-rotated display is aligned like following picture shows. If you can, please test ROTATE=„yes“ as well.
//Edit
The Orientation shown above is confimed by Antonio as "Non-Rotated".

We have added our Add-On Projects (tty2oled/i2c2oled/tty2tft/snac2iec) to the MiSTer Wiki.
See: https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Main_Mi ... n-Projects
Nothing Special, just to complete the documentation a little bit.

Some organizational's
- The released testing Version 220731T contains the new XOTA Option for optional OTA Support. Sketch consumption reduced from 65% to 28% if OTA is not enabled.
If no one complains, OTA Support will be removed in one of the next releases.
- The SSD1322 Library got a very Minor Update to v0.1.2. No functional changes. Please update If you compile yourself.

Also MiSTer SAM now shows faint bars behind the titles, I thought my hardware was failing at first.

The last two additions!
May I ask to add another column to the right, named tty2rpi? No hurry, yesterday is enough In fact ~4,500 pictures are already done by community, project is almost finished but needs some polishing and documentation, so within the next weeks would be totally ok.

Was actually meaning to message you about that project to see if I could help you there, I have an idea so ping you a DM. That's a lot of pictures you have done!
Can we get one for "creativision.rbf"?

Absolutely, here they are. But before publishing them to GIT, is the CORENAME creativision really the right one or a guess?

You mean the mentioned 4,500 ones? Thank you, but I haven't done a single one yet They are all coming from Progetto-Snaps, an Italian site for Arcade (and MAME) resources.

Re: tty2oled Soft&Hardware Add-On (Shows Core based Pictures on a Display)
Greetings. I am now an owner of the same prebuilt tty2oled from www.antoniovillena.es as some of the other posters in this thread. I would have much rather built my own, but sadly I do not know how to solder.
After following the Github doc for updating the ESP8266 everything is working great with my tty2oled ... except (you guessed it) ... MiSTer SAM.
This thread, especially recent posts by venice, the Git docs for tty2oled, and the MiSTer SAM thread have been a great help in troubleshooting. When I received the tty2oled from antonio, I updated the firmware to the latest version and updated my MiSTer_SAM.ini to enable tty2oled. I have a default tty2oled-system.ini and a blank tty2oled-user.ini. Also set MiSTer_SAM.ini ttyuseack=yes.
Once MiSTer_SAM auto start kicks in, I see the system logo, followed by the attached screenshot. Almost every single time after the core logo appears, I see CMDDUPD then display until the next game is loaded, and the cycle repeats (system logo, followed by CMDDUPD). Every once in a while, seemingly almost at random, the game name will display with the correct count down, but 95% of the time it just displays CMDDUPD.
Since the tty2oled seems to be displaying system images just fine outside of MiSTer SAM as best as I can tell, I was going to hit up the MiSTer SAM thread, but I saw the post from jacob.pederson a few posts back about seeing a specific message in dmesg | grep tty. I get the same message as he did:
.... but I tried his workaround with commenting 3 lines out of MiSTer_SAM_on.sh and it did not help.
I also tried a shorter USB cable as well as reflashing using ./installer.sh FORCE HWESP8266 with no luck. Can anyone think of anything else to try before I hit up the MiSTer SAM folks, and is that "ch341-uart ttyUSB0: break control not supported" a normal message for the ESP8266?
Edit: We'll, switching and swapping about half a dozen micro USB cables, as well as letting MiSTer SAM autostart versus forcing it to manual start in the MiSTer SAM settings screen (a tip I found in the MiSTer SAM thread) has gotten it a lot more consistent in showing the rom name ... I've only seen CMDDUPD a couple of times since. Going to keep an eye on it.

Re: tty2oled Soft&Hardware Add-On (Shows Core based Pictures on a Display)
Hi,
do you use the Standard SAM Version or a testing version?
I think the dmesg information are just informational.
Do you set ROTATE=“yes”?
The Display Orientation looks wrong to me.
See my pictures above!
As the 8266 is much slower than the ESP32, timing problems can happen so you see commands written on the screen instead of get them processed.
/Edit
…or the Firmware is too old and doesn‘t know the command.

Re: tty2oled Soft&Hardware Add-On (Shows Core based Pictures on a Display)
As Venice says, the screen you show is upside down. Ever since I changed my esp8266 for ttygo 1.8 it's like having upgraded to a mustang 500 and competing with toretto. What seems strange to me is that there is a common denominator for all of you who fail with it, you say that you have been able to update to the latest version of the firmware with this screen from Antonio, can you show an image with the number on the left before loading?

Re: tty2oled Soft&Hardware Add-On (Shows Core based Pictures on a Display)
The 8266 is not bad, just slower.
Applications need to be adjusted for the different timings.
In the past I had no problems using my 8266 Display with SAM.
//Edit
I have installed the actual SAM Version and let run it with my 8266, no problems.
I get
as well.
I start SAM manually running
I have enabled tty2oled support in SAM ini and set ttyuseack="Yes".
Cheers

Re: tty2oled Soft&Hardware Add-On (Shows Core based Pictures on a Display)
Hi all, I have put together my tty2oled and connected it to my mister.
When I run the update script, I get this message “could not connect to interface. Please check usb connection and run script again”
Where am I going wrong? Also My screen does not power up, but I assume I need to update the ttgo8 first?
Thanks
Edit. I have looked through the thread and I typed lsusb into f9 menu on my mister, and the device does not show up. I’m stumped!

Some USB cables just give power only.
Try another one.

Prehistoric Isle? Duh! Never heard of it, but sounds very funny. Will give it try on my MAME-O-Mat.
Meanwhile, here's the picture for it. Yeah, I'm faster than light.

Could you try again now what happens if you activate ROTATE.
If you can, make a video please.
Maybe someone else who is using Antonios Display can confirm that a non-rotated display is aligned like following picture shows.
C905D116-BEDB-489D-B9D3-C069170E0046.jpeg
If you can, please test ROTATE=„yes“ as well.
//Edit
The Orientation shown above is confimed by Antonio as "Non-Rotated".
I just returned from holidays.
I tried to reflash today and this time, it worked !!
Thanks a lot for your help .

Good job, well made and named. Thanks a lot. Pictures are uploaded and available to all.
Hehe, that's usually impossible to do tasks before I'll wake up, but actually I'm on holiday@home with my wife, enjoying a long sleep and more drinks in the evening.
