Tryed that yesterday, but unfortunately Outzone is still not working with my current setup. Mister is connected by RGB-Scart to Hydra W2, and from Hydra W2 I am going to Retrotink 5x by RGB-Scart, from the Retrotink 5x I am going to my 4:3 Plasma TV (Hitachi CMP307XU) by HDMI-VGA Adapter and VGA Cable.
With this setup all other Toaplan Games work fine, except for Outzone.
I also tested a direkt connection from Mister to my Hitachi by HDMI-VGA and with that it worked well.

Anyone an idea where the problem might be?
Jesus, that chain is horrible. The issue is your display can handle 55Hz but that daisy chain has something that doesn't like the 55Hz native refresh. The 5x will take it, but it is a lot of work. I strongly suggest going HDMI>VGA>Plasma for the MiSTer. There's no point in upscaling an RGB signal when the digital signal is cleaner than the 5x. If it's for filters, you can almost achieve the same look.

Thanks for your reply. Well, maybe it's the best solution to connect the Mister directly to the Hitachi. Otherwise, everything works fine in this row, all original hardware as well as the Mister, except for Outzone. I'll check if the Hitachi has two VGA inputs, that would be the best, so I won't have to change connections everytime.

Just an example. Grab an Extron VGA splitter. They can be had for less.

Just grab a VGA to BNC cable for the mister and use it on the BNC RGBHV input.

Updates and current progress to Toaplan V1.
Many thanks for this update!

When you get a chance, could you please let me know how to setup the second player? I have run outzoneb, I have made sure unused dips were both on but then I have failed to setup the second controller (i.e. start 2p). When I set up the controller it only asks for start and coin. Sorry if I am missing the obvious

Thanks!

Use a keyboard and start [outzoneb], dips should be enabled by default. Press and hold key "f" and then press "f3".

After pressing and holding the key "f" and then "f3" the game started over again. Does that mean that the procedure went well? Thanks!

Very interesting, the game runs kinda too fast at 58Hz, but fits much better on the screen. I have a follow up question regarding OutZone and its output on a CRT. Compared to other games using this core the picture is shifted down too much, I can't even fix this using the V-sync Adjust option, the allowed range of adjustment is not enough. Even at "7" it's not completely centered. Any thoughts why is this the case? Will it be possible to maybe extend the range of adjustment? :)

We need to work on H/V registers with video timing and make adjustments. There won't be a need to extend the H/V centering. I've pulled the readings off Out Zone and Tatsujin so far. I believe blackwine is working on that in his spare time. Still in beta .

ZERO WING DELTA

I made a de-splash and a "SUPER EASY" hacked version, try it if you want.

Modifications:

1.Removes the red flash screen effect .

2. The difficulty has always be the difficulty selected in the DIP switch, and will not change during the game.

3. Force GAME OVER after one loop.

4. The title screen is marked with Δ to distinguish it from the original.

There is a fully functional patched MRA that does this already. You don't need a special ROM and it does not break functionality.

You need to keep your eyes open and look carefully. This is also a "Super Easy" and "1 loop over" Hack!

Thanks for this hack, it is interesting. Is there a way to set the 1 loop game over to be a dip option or an in game choice? Can we get this version entered into the update all script as an alternate version, such as maybe the "delta" version.

Thanks for doing this!

I see what you did, but does it break functionality of the dips? You have MRA's for with and without invincibility. It's neat, but it requires additional roms that aren't distributed anywhere but in this post. Why not just create patch offsets?

If this were distributed, where would one get the roms required for it? Not every MiSTer user comes to this forum or a discord. It'd need to be provided with patch offsets in the mra overwriting zerowing.zip to be distributed.

Hey guys, I’m having trouble getting the most recent release of Zero Wing working, all the other games at https://github.com/va7deo/zerowing run fine but when I try to boot up Zero Wing I get the following error message.

I’ve tried a couple of different roms.

Edit, now sorted!

Did the old OPL2/audio issues with some of these cores end up getting resolved, which were (among other things) preventing Truxton music from playing all it's instruments?

Any chance Wardner (pyros in the US) could be added to this Toaplan libray - it was everywhere in the arcades for me anyway in the UK. Its a such a good platformer, great atmosphere.

That's a different board. These games are for the Toaplan Version 1 board.

Hopefully we'll get a Wardner release someday. I like that game too.

To answer my own question: no, there are still serious music issues in MiSTer's version of Truxton.

This is not a complaint.

I simply play the game on other platforms until such time as the core experience is complete on MiSTer. I look forward to playing it again on MiSTer one day.

Thanks a lot for the amazing work so far, almost everything is incredibly done.

For all of those who had issues or wanted QOL like "60Hz" it's done. The remaining games from the hardware will be separate repositories. Demon's World, Rally Bike, Vimana/Same(3x) will be released soon! Enjoy.

I've fixed the issue. It's because I refactored the ports like the PCB and didn't check the bit's in the MRA files that I generated from MAME. They use different mapping on the I/O.

In the future, it would be helpful if you created an issue on the git repo. I just happened to come here to post something else; saw this and fixed it. Should be able to update in 10 minutes from this post.

Just posting here for visibility. The 2p side start button must be mapped to a button on the 1p side. The behavior should be like other cores, where the 2p player can press their own start button on their own controller.
