D3Fmod Ironclad Plus Damaged

Unread post by gameboyhomeboy »

I'm wondering if anyone here has any feedback or suggestions. I preordered an Ironclad in the beginning of 2022 and received it about a month ago. I opened it up a week later and there was a missing button (Key3....ended up finding it laying in the box) and another component that appears to have fallen off during transport. I believe this component is a small speaker but I'm not entirely certain. I have emailed d3fmod 16 days ago and haven't heard back and reached out via twitter as well.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what steps to take next? I'm trying to give the benefit of the doubt here, but I'm getting concerned as I'm not hearing anything back regarding resolution to this. This was an expensive purchase and I'm not sure what to do. I have attached a picture below in case anyone has a suggestion.

I got my board back in feb. Had 2 capacitors similar to yours. I was able to solder them back on and was on my way. I did reach out and it took him couple weeks to reach back and he said I could send it back and he would fix, however being in the states I didn’t want to wait that long and he was fine with me just soldering them back on. So maybe you can do something similar, the solder pads are large enough it looks like that even amateur probably could do it. I did write back that I was able to get it fixed and got no response from that. Hope that helps. Good luck!

I messaged d3fmod on twitter linking to this post, might just be busy with stuff. MiSTer is a hobby project and the hardware sellers often only do this as a side gig, very few make it a primary source of income, so patience is expected. 16 days is a bit much though.

Double check your spam folders in your email, it might've gotten accidentally sorted.

Thanks for the replies. I'm not really sure how to solder the larger component back on, but might be able to do the key3 pad. Either way, I'd rather just send to him for service. I'll report back when I hear from him and post the outcome.

That buzzer will never buzz again. The legs are torn off. How was this packaged? Looks pretty seriously damaged.

It was packaged really well actually. Everything was wrapped in bubble wrap and neatly and tightly packed.

Still no reply on this. It's going on three weeks on Sunday. I've sent three emails and two messages on Twitter.

When I was deciding to buy this I sent a few emails with questions and they were promptly answered. Now that I've taken delivery of a damaged product I'm getting no response. I'm a little concerned. I'm not sure what my options are at this point. I don't have the technical know how to fix this and I shouldn't have to as it was received damaged.
