Atari ST Core Joystick Not Working
Atari ST Core Joystick Not Working
i use a DaemonBite controller that work in ALL other cores.
i feel i'm doing something wrong. the joystick is recognized inside the core, as soon as i pres any joystick buttons the joystick info appear on screen. but it looks like it don't do anything. tried swapping joystick function too without any results, tried playing with F11 key, again without any results.
May someone help me please?

Re: Atari ST Core Joystick Not Working
edit: I forgot to mention, saving settings is a manual step, on the same page as the joystick settings. Hit F12, and go right one page. Both current-core joystick settings and saving all current settings (everything, not just joysticks) are entries on this page.
Re: Atari ST Core Joystick Not Working
i tested a bunch of games in the 3gb vhd file: Turrican, Turrican 2, Tusker, Addams family. none of them respond to joysticks.
then i tested around ten games on floppy, none of them worked (bombs on screen) except one, and the joystick is working there.
just for curiosity i tested turrican on floppy (i was not able to skip the cracktro in turrican 2) and again joystick is not working.
that's very odd
update: i tested with an 8bitdo joypad: same identical result, it works fine in all cores except atari st.

Re: Atari ST Core Joystick Not Working
Should also mention I'm not sure how mouse works with respect to joystick ports. On a real Atari ST you had two DB9 ports, and one of them could be used for either mouse or joystick, but obviously not both at once. But in Mister you always have exactly one mouse so, not sure how that relates to the controller slots or the machine's DB9 ports. I think port 0 was the dual mouse/joystick port so many games would look to the port 1 for a joystick, but not all.
Re: Atari ST Core Joystick Not Working
i tested 2 joystick and the joystick swap option without any success.

Re: Atari ST Core Joystick Not Working
i read about the mouse thing on the Atari forum posts about the revamped Droid game too tho the technical aspect eludes me but i think they were talking about original machines. In my setup i have the same, games like droid or atomic robo kid (and plenty others) recognize a fire button but the playersprite wont move. Im using an arcade stick (no brand) six buttons + 2 that can be rewired if you open it up to change the behaviour of the buttons, i use it for most but as the old wireless pad began to break i was more or less forced to spend beermoney on a new pad instead and actually when i put that one in it seems to work (a nedis xbox-type cheap €29 pad, i prefer the big box with real arcade feel mostly ) i can play the Atari games with mouse inserted (and the other stick too actually) using the (wired) gamepad. I have a 1button db9 inserted too but that doesnt seem to do anything with either c64 , Atari ST and amiga cores (for which id actually like to use it) ... a bit odd b/c i think the card that came with it (i bought it as "an amiga replacement") did have the db9 stick working (id much prefer those for Atari and C64 and probably boxes i didnt have like the spec or msx or cpc) but it was a card where the OS wouldnt update so maybe that was customized (i dont enough of the tek-side for that) ... All in all the myth of this "accurate" thing which is the closest to the real machine was pretty much debunked pretty fast heh, its a wonderful box, the most impressive piece of kit i had since the kid and the 64 but a bit overhyped perhaps on the "real machine" front .. but im drifting, the thing is if i insert the nedis pad i can play the Atari games i tried so far that werent working with the other stick (again, dont ask me why, i just found out by doing it on a whim)
