Turn off EDID

Is it possible to turn off. When my monitor auto adjusts, some of my settings are changed back to default.

I don't think you can turn off EDID, but AFAIK you can just set a direct video mode, and then the Mister core will ignore it.

If you read your MiSTer.ini file, it has a list of 14 predefined video modes. video_mode=8 results in 1920x1080@60Hz, which I believe is the default that will usually be chosen with an EDID-capable monitor, assuming that it reports it can do 1080p.

AFAIK, the Mister will default to video_mode=0 (1280x720@60Hz) if no mode is set, and the EDID isn't working.

The games look fine but the menu (after boot) is way of center.

What monitor are you using? Giving you advice on video_mode probably won't be very useful unless we know that.

One thing that can be done without knowing what monitor it is: what happens if you try just video_mode=8? Do you get a decent image?

You can ignore that idea if you have a 4:3 monitor, which you may. I think you're trying to set 1600x1200, which wouldn't normally be used on widescreens.

Unfortunately, just the aspect ratio doesn't help much. We can't even tell if it's a CRT or LCD from that. Can you scare up the model name without too much effort? We should be able to find the technical specs that way. If it's really difficult, at least let us know CRT versus LCD, and if it's LCD, what the native resolution is. Also, telling us how it's connected is useful.... which port you're using on the Mister, and the port type on the monitor.

I haven't used modelines since XWindows on Linux in the 90s, so I may not be much help editing what you have there, but I can at least try to chase down any technical specifications so smarter people have what they need to know.

Sorry, it's been a long day, and I'm an idiot...

It is a LCD Dell 2007fpb 20" via VGA.

The weird thing is, I've tried changing the custom aspect line (adding a 1 before 1600) and that makes the menu look ok but the arcade core's aspect ratio is wrong.

If I remove the 1, the menu is off center, and the auto adjusting starts, but the game's aspect ratio is right.

What I want is a centered menu, right core aspect ratio and a monitor that doesn't auto adjust.

After a little trial and error, this seems to fix it in my case:
