Eye of the Beholder (C64 and C128) Quick Look on MiSTer

Unread post by rsn8887 »

I made a video where I play the review version of Eye of the Beholder (C64/C128) on the MiSTer FPGA. Thanks to the dev team for allowing me an early look at the game.

Looks great! When I try to "flash save" and load again it just loads the beginning of the level (1) so it doesn't seems to work. Does anyone know what I need to do in the settings so it works?

Check the Notes: https://eotb64.com/notes/ :

Code: Select all

the C64 core does not support Easyflash saves,
separate d64-Image for game saves is required

Have you tried this? I just did and when I try to load it says it can't find a save. I put an empty D64 in both 8 and 9 and it didn't make a difference. Just like with attempting a flash save, you don't get any error messages or anything (but weirdly, disk save is way faster than the non-working flash save).

Yes and it works fine.
Loaded an empty .d64 on first drive (8), started the game , killed first mob then saved :

After that, moved a bit, loaded from disk:

It found the save and loaded correctly

Forgot to update here, so just in case anyone else runs into this... after I got some help on Discord, I discovered that "system rom" was set to something called "loadable c64"... setting it to "standard c64" enabled me to write to disk properly and made everything work!

EDIT: Never mind, figured out how to enable mouse support by watching the video, should have done that first :)
