How to Get the Save Progress System to Work Properly?

Unread post by ascopolis »

Is there any reason the PSX core does not recognize the saves on the empty.mcd? I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong.

  1. I have the empty.mcd in the folder "saves ->PSX->empty.mcd.

In the PSX core, I go to the OSD and select "Mount Memory Card 1" and then "empty.mcd," and I get no results.

I had managed to make a save a couple of days ago, and today, I can't get it back. I haven't started playing anything because if you can't save to a memory card, it doesn't make much sense to advance in some games.

After you make a save within the game, you have to open the MiSTer OSD for the save to be written to the micro SD card - even when you have autosave turned on (if you don't you have to use the save option in the OSD manually).

I can't recall the technical reason for this, but it's the same across all of the console cores.

The technical reason is because otherwise some cores would write to the microSD multiple times a second (which will ruin your MicroSD card quickly) because of the method to detect that a new save can be saved.
