Controls for Hyper Sports and Hyper Olympic?

Unread post by Vinicius »

On original hardware, both these Japanese exclusives need to be played with Konami's special controller: Hyper Shot.
On the MiSTer, a normal USB controller gives you no input, either on Hyper Sports or Hyper Olympic.

Is there no way to play them without SNAC? AFAIK a 15 pin Famicom controller SNAC doesn't even exist.
It would be cool if they could be played with USB to get the original Hyper Shots and use them with Raphnet's Famicom-->USB adapter or another one.

[EDIT: I see Hyper Olympic is the Japanese and European name of Track & Field. So one way for Hyper Olympic would be to play the American version, I guess.]

Try the "Track & Field" Arcade Version , it works great.

There is a famicom controller SNAC adapter. MiSTer Add-Ons sells it.

Is it possible to implement so that the core automatically detects Hyper Shot controller requirement from rom's NES 2.0 header and maps NES A and B to Hyper Shot Run and Jump respectfully? This way there would be no need to add yet another niche controller option to OSD menu.
