Could MiSTer Replicate a Dreamcast GDEMU?

Unread post by ChanPetrelli »

I'm just wondering if it would be possible to do something like this. I see that gdemu is not longer available and clons are about 90€ or so.

On the other hand I've seen that gdemu uses a cyclone II FPGA and an ARM CPU on their board.

Maybe there is a way, or even someone have analyzed the option of having a core and some connector using the mister gpio connected to the Dreamcast, and emulate a GDEMU... Or maybe this is just a dream hehehe

You do realize that a mister costs significantly more than 90€, right? Better stick with that clone.

Do you realize that people who already have a mister could save 90€ if this option would existed? 😁

I think it's not very likely that any dev has explored this, but you know, asking questions doesn't cost you money.

It's probably physically possible to turn a DE-10 into a workalike for the GDEMU, but probably not while also running the Mister project. I doubt there are enough GPIO pins left.
