If this is true, I am very happy with the MSX2 core development and I sincerely hope that the development will be completed.

Yes, it's being developed by Molekula :) You might want to check the Discord's MSX chat for the full discussion/tests/etc : https://discord.com/channels/6479093974 ... 5922537542

Ooh, cool. I downloaded a bunch of MSX1 stuff when the new core came online, but from online searches, it looks like most of the genre-defining classics on the system were MSX2 or later. A really solid version of that core would be a lot of fun to play with.

The current MSX core also supports MSX2 and even Turbo-R clocks, been playing Valis 2 on it.

The core is lacking floppy support and some other things. I believe its based on some modern SoC clone of the MSX rather than the actual original hardware. You need a hard drive image using sofarun to do much of anything with it, although you can run floppy disk images inside of a virtual hard drive that way. I would fish around on archive.org to find a pre-made VHD to get started.

I believe the other core(s) being worked on by Molekula will try to be more full-featured and accurate to the OG hardware. But you should be able to get most things running on the current core with a hard drive image.

The latest MSX2 beta core seems to work really well already. OPL4 support would make it perfect 🔥

New Molekula's MSX2 core version is awesome! I have been trying games that didn't work before:
-Sword of Ianna (ASCII16) loads now but hangs after intro
-Los Amores de Brunilda works perfectly now (except for the boot picture)
-Lily's Saga still hangs after programme's logo

Hmm. That latest core seems to freeze the whole MiSTer, cannot even access the OSD. Any clues? Older cores work just fine.

You need to update MiSTer as well for the last version of the core to work(2023.02.03), changes are not yet merged in main: https://github.com/tdlabac/MSX1_MiSTer/ ... ses/MiSTer

It's not a requirement. OSD freezing should not happen.

Hmm. For some reason the keyboard settings are not the same as for other cores... I can get to OSD, but it seems that I cannot change the MSX type in the menu, no matter what button I press. Something weird indeed.

Saving the settings made it work apparently. No the OSD works ok. Weird.

What dskrom should I use with the latest MSX2-core? It seems that at least a few games won't load with the dskroms I've tried (NMS8235 and NMS8230). Any tips? :)
