Ideas for playing videos

Unread post by netbeui »

Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone has any ideas for watching videos through the MiSTer. I have Looney Tunes and Disney DVDs of classic cartoons that were shot in 4:3 aspect ratio. I figured since I already have my MiSTer connected to a CRT TV it would be great to watch them on the original display device that they were intended for. I was thinking maybe I could convert the DVDs to mpg and watch them through the 486 core but I wanted to check here first in case there are other better ways to do this. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!

Try the Linux desktop.

Thanks for the quick reply! I followed your link and read it but I don’t quite understand, does that version of Linux replace what I’m currently running? I prefer not to switch back and forth if possible

I found the thread below, looks like this isn’t really practical for the MiSTer. No worries, I’ll connect my DVD player to my CRT :D
