C64 Demo Turn Disk Detection Sometimes Not Working

Unread post by offset »

Anyone notice that on some C64 demos, the turn disk isn't being detected?

A couple that I have noticed below, likely more just haven't looked at a ton of demos on the mister.
plush +h2k
resource - soiled legacy

Not sure how if some demos are using non-standard ways to determine if a disk has been inserted, etc. Also tried hitting the <spacebar>, <enter> key, etc.

I haven't noticed any, do you have specific demos we can verify?

when asked for disk swap : goto OSD and select drive 8 then press "backspace" to un-mount your current disk. Then mount the next disk in drive 8.

Hope this helps?

I tried quite a few demos and they worked (ie. Edge of Disgrace), so I feel that I'm swapping the disks correctly via the OSD (mount in #8). I haven't tried the <backspace> on the same drive #8, just pressing the enter key on the disk #8 menu option and selecting the file with the new image to be mounted.

The following demos I couldn't get to work properly in the original post

plush +h2k

Tried both demos
+h2k by plush
and soiled legacy by resource and can't get either demo to swap to the second disk.

I may try a different keyboard (using a Rii rk707 keyboard/controller combo) - http://www.riitek.com/product/224.html

I could reproduce, also tested with parallel disabled and stock roms. I recommend logging it as an issue https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/C64_MiSTer/issues

These issues are old story since Sorgelig has fixed them. Check https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/C64_MiSTer/issues/160.
Use the latest build "C64_unstable_20240103_141291.rbf"
