Update: After the MiSTer Linux Update from today I am able to boot into games.

Looks like you missed to use the latest unstable mister main. It is know implemented into the main.

I didnt, which is why I answered here. Maybe the wind blew from the wrong direction last time or solar flares did interfere :)

ok but if the main update solved the issue than the issue must have been the from main. :!:

No, not from main. 3 times, downloaded and updated my main mister with unstable nightly and Saturn Core with no success. Today I performed update_all, which updated a lot of things and Linux part also, and Tadammmm! Saturn working again.

Just reading about the Saturn Dual SDRAM use. Is this likely to be the case when the core is closer to final or is the aim to get it fully functional with a Single SDRAM? This is one of the cores I’m looking forward to and wondered if I should upgrade with another SDRAM module in preparation.

Appreciate this may not be currently possible to answer.

Too early to tell, I'm afraid... I'd wait to see if this core - or some other cores currently being developed - may require/offer better performance with double SDRAMs in their final stable version
In general stable cores usually work with a single SDRAM card, so far at least, yet double SDRAM sticks (any size) give better latency.. It all depends on how the core is engineered and optimized, though.
For the record my MiSTer has two SDRAM sticks, but the second one for now sees basically no use other than the Saturn core or an experimental PSX core..

exactly, you had the wrong unstable my friend. because if the update_all did solve the issue, the issue was in the main, because the main was update to work with saturn wip core.

Thanks for the info. When you say dual gives better latency, where exactly is the improvement seen?

You don't see it easily as an end user, I think..
Core developers might use it to improve RAM bandwidth and get better core performance (for instance create a mister core for a system with relatively high RAM speed)
Please note that I'm an end user myself, not a core developer, the above is just my understanding of this matter.

Weird, I have installed MiSTer_unstable_20230413_21c1d8, mentioned earlier in this thread, as a proper version.Downloaded from links posted here. And no success.

We have a new build pushed a few hours ago, haven't tested yet if it works with current MiSTer main

I tried the new build out. Panzer Dragoon Saga is running now. It does freeze on the cutscenes for some reason.

It looks like Sonic Jam fully renders now. There is some kind of audio issue.

Feels like the Saturn core is edging closer and closer to a general release. Saturn Bomberman and Bubble Symphony seem almost perfect except the crackling background music.

I have not tried Nights yet. It is getting pretty exciting. The bios screen needs to match the region.

I only have one, and it's named "boot.rom" not "boot.rom.bin". Try that and see how it works. ^^

Darius Gaiden still no sound effects for me. Not sure if it’s isolated. Single ram setup.

You can put a separate bios as boot.rom in the folder of the game itself if that game needs another bios.

This may have been asked before, and I apologize if it has.

Does anyone know why the analog video output of this core is shifted to the left? No other cores seem to do this with analog out. Digital video seems fine. I'm using the latest single-SDRAM core 08.06.2023, but it's been doing this since the very early revisions. Is this a known issue or something strange with my CRT TV?

Most likely that accurate analog video output timings are of lower priority currently. My CRT also displays Saturn shifted to the left, but the image signal itself is very stable. This will be probably tweaked some time later.

Its an alpha core, no where near finished and CRT positioning isnt that important currrently compared to getting a working core
