PSA: This build looks for boot.bin, not boot.rom! Rename your boot.rom to boot.bin and it will load.
Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development
It stays with a black screen, but you can enter the menu now and fumble your way to get something to load.
Sometime you need to reset from the menu (for EU und JP for me), some Bios start straight up (US).
Then you can load your cue and hope for the best
Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development
it works for me with the latest stable. most times it doesn't work right from the start. I had to reset the core, reload the game, reset the core etc. but it worked in the end...

Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development
nope i can't , i see that resolution changes but menu doesn't appear from controller shortcut, or directly from mister button
[EDIT] updating Mister to latest unstable did nothing, saturn core from june 8th runs, latest one doesn't, i have both boot.rom AND boot.bin in the folder , and nothing , very puzzled

Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development
Delete boot.rom. Do EXACTLY what djsquare said. Load the core, set the region, load boot.bin from inside the core, load your game, in that order. It will throw an error that the CD BIOS is missing, then will work anyway.
Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development
ah i found that there's a boot.rom in the GAMES folder too , i had seen one in a BIOS/Saturn folder for some reason and just touched that one!
obviously i put the one in the Games folder but that was a long time ago so i forgot, i even kinda assume that the other one is not even used nowadays even ? deleted it and everything still works!
Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development
Very happy with the latest build. I am seeing more games booting and also more games advancing further to playability. Would be nice to auto switch the bios and region depending on the ISO sometime in future as I think this may be causing some compatibility issues for some. The main thing is that Sergey is safe and well of course.

Black screen here too - totally locks up my Mister. Can't bring up any menus.

Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development
you must rename the boot.rom to boot.bin. you will get a black screen, you then can open the OSD and load the BIOS and after that the game itself.

Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development
Sorted, thank you. I had copied boot.rom to boot.bin, just to be safe (so both exited). Turns out not that safe at all

Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development
Try last build 20230702.
The cd_bios.rom must be located in the directory with the game image or one directory above.
For example:
/Saturn/US/Alien Trilogy (USA)/cd_bios.rom
/Saturn/US/cd_bios.rom
/Saturn/JP/Batsugun (Japan)/cd_bios.rom
/Saturn/JP/cd_bios.romOr the boot.rom must be located in the "core" directory.
For example:
/Saturn/boot.rom.Or you can select any bios file (*.bin) manually using the menu.

Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development
Stull locked out black screen if using boot.rom.
Changes back to boot.bin. works great again.

Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development
Thanks. That's interesting. Perhaps a different rom? I just get a blank screen same as the user breiztiger.
With previous releases of the Saturn core the game was booting but was crashing after a few seconds.
