Cores Accessed via Their .MGL Aliases Have Cheat Option Disabled

Unread post by ccovell »

Hey, folks. This applies to the aliases like Game Gear.mgl and GameBoyColor which point to the SMS and GB cores, respectively.

For example: If you access a GG game through the SMS core, you can choose cheats for it as normal, but if you select the "GameGear" core then the cheats option is ghosted.

Is this normal and expected behaviour?

When using such mgl MISTer considers the name of the core as being the setname given in the mgl, not the real name of the core. There is no Cheats/Game Gear subdirectory - > no cheats when using mgl.
One thing worth trying would be to create a symlink Cheats/Game Gear -> Cheats/SMS.

Yep, this is exactly what I did to address the issue (ran into it the other day myself). Works great for this scenario.
