Do I need the N64-database.txt file and if so, where do I put it?

You will also need the Mister Unstable or the database file will not be read.

Easiest setup is to use the script from the FAQ https://vampier.net/N64/

Then all you need to do is supply the Bios files

I got autodetect failure because I use an external hdd. The script only updates the fat drive. Hopefully the script can be adapted.
