SDRAM Question

Unread post by MiSTer Consoles »

Hi all. I have a really old 32MB SDRAM XS module (V1.1) that I thought I might be able to use in the secondary slot on my MiSTer with digital IO (V1.2). I noticed that aside from having the usual 40 pin GPIO header it also has 3 pins on the backside of the module that apparently go into the Arduino header of the primary slot according to the Wiki. My newer 128MB module does not have those 3 pins. I also don't see any place for those 3 pins to connect on the secondary SDRAM slot for the DE-10. Will this SDRAM still function if those 3 pins aren't connected?

There is some HW mod you need to do to use it. I dont remember the details though

Interesting. Hopefully someone else can point me in the right direction for how to do that. I wouldn’t mind modding it since it won’t get used otherwise…

My module looks identical to that one, but the memory chip is a Winbond. Not sure if that would make any difference though.

Thanks everyone. I'll give the mod a try tonight and see if it works. Would be nice to use SDRAM for something useful instead of just leaving it in a drawer for an eternity. :D
