Samurai Shodown RPG English Translation

I am having problems getting the English Translation for Samurai Shodown RPG working.

The game boots into the main menu, but when i press START for GAME START, it kicks me back to the CD player menu.

I am using the image downloaded from CDRomance.

Got it working if drive speed is set to 2X.
The problem above only happens when drive speed is set to 4X.
No idea why though...
The other NGCD images I have work perfectly fine with 4X drive speed

Its because there was never a 4x speed Neo Geo CD released......
Some work some not...same on Pulstar aso

Some games (on any system) were written with the expectations that the hardware was "standard", and that timings wouldn't change appreciably. They certainly weren't tested to tun on hardware which wasn't available at the time of the release.

In most cases, there is some operation happening on the CPU (or other hardware) while the CDROM is doing the seek (or read), and if that CDROM process completes early, the CPU work won't yet be completed, so the program will proceed to run with partially-uninitialized data or hardware.

I was able to switch back to 4x on the character select screen and play for awhile, so not sure if the 4x crash is just the beginning.

I thought the NGCD was 2x and CDZ was 4x...
I realize now NGCD was 1x and CDZ was 2x...
