Maybe I didn't the first time, but I tried many other times and it was set to Yes.

I renamed your file to match my D9 and the MGL name. Then I got the first paddle axis and the second paddle button working as the first paddle. The other axis and the other button weren't working.
So I went back to mapping in the Menu and this time I moved the axis both the first time it was asked and also in the end. I was skipping everything and not noticing it was being asked again later. Then I went back to the core and with no further mapping everything is working.
The weird thing is that axes were working before and it was the buttons that weren't working...
I'd better not touch anything anymore to not break it again.

By the way, has anyone bought the new Atari CX30+ paddles?
I'm interested in them since the plastic on my original paddles is brittle after those 40 years. Hopefully they are improved or at least the same as the originals.

I bought a pair - they work great. The pots in them have a much more resistive feel to them than my OG 40 year old paddles with their OG 40 year old pots, but this is to be expected.

Is the 2600-daptor II the recommended one? I dont really get the differences especially with all the question marks in the comparison chart.
I want to connect 2 paddles, 4 if possible (with two daptors)?

The PDL version even has a 'MiSTer' setting especially for the 7800/2600 core.

I agree with rhester and Lamer. I have both a D9 and a PDL. They are both 9-pin D-sub <-> USB1 adapters. The D9 works great for Atari 2600 joystick and Sega Genesis gamepads. There is a significant jitter issue with Atari 2600 paddles on the D9. The PDL variant of the adapter eliminates this issue. If you want to enjoy using Atari 2600 paddles with the MiSTer via USB port, get the PDL.

Also using PDL for CX30 paddles and D9 for everything else here. The nice thing is that the PID is different for the 2 adaptors so the mappings won’t conflict with or overwrite each other if you have both.
As an aside, the D9 also works great with the Intellivision Flashback controllers in the MiSTer core (or real Intellivision controllers with a cheap 9-pin adapter sold by the developer). It allows for true 16-way movement.

Every time I try to play "Rikki & Vikki" on the 7800 core I just get flashing trash on the screen. Is there some special setting that needs to be enabled for the game to run properly?

Hi guys, just getting into this great core for this 1st time, has anybody managed to get the homebrew game Galagon to work for the 2600 in the core? Any reason why this wont work on the core but works on the actual hardware?

Galagon uses the Melody Board, the cartridge has extra hardware on board that enhance the possibilities of the 2600. Neither Melody nor Harmony (more powerful then Melody but same idea) are supported by any MiSTer 2600/7800 core.

Thank you for the info Chris. I had no idea their were games you can play on the 2600 today that cant be played on MiSTer. Will the core ever be abe to play these games? Or is it just that the MiSTer is not compatible with the hardware in these games?

The board Galagon uses has an extra ARM CPU on board. I doubt this will be implemented. As far as I know Stella supports these hardware. So if you can't play on a real 2600, Stella is the next best option.

The Super FX chip in Super NES cartridges was a 16- Bit RISC processor running at 21 MHz that made the SNES render 3D polygons.
This chip was running cycles around the 65C816 8 Bit CPU that was clocked at 3.58MHz max (often running at half this speed). But I would argue games with a Super FX chip still run on a SNES.
The Shogi game Hayazashi Nidan Morita Shogi 2 even had a 32-Bit ARM CPU on the cartridge, would you say this isn't a game for the SNES any more?

I think they meant "period correct" which means these games were never available during the commercial run of the 2600. They are modern creations.

Today I tried playing Asteroids for the 2600 and it is causing my MiSTer to become unstable. Hitting F12 after loading Asteroids is slow to respond. The sound cuts in and out. Does anyone else have this problem? Other games seem to work fine. Thanks!
Edit: OK, this is weird. I also have "Atari 2600" in my core list (from an mgl file), and when choosing this one, it launches the same Atari 7800 core version, but Asteroids works fine with the menu, etc. Going back to "Atari 7800" I have the problem again.

FYI - new CX30+ paddles will become available in late May and they can be ordered on Amazon for $24.99 (US). If you can't wait, you can buy the bundle with the cartridge for more money.
