bios limit on vhd sizes?
bios limit on vhd sizes?
seems if you make a vhd larger than 8gb fdisk will only see 8gb of this. Is this an issue with its bios?

Re: bios limit on vhd sizes?
I have been wondering about this as well. I can make a VHD on my Windows 10 computer and make it larger than 8gb, but MiSTer only seems to recognize 8000 something MB. Less than 8192MB which is what makes up 8GB. But having disks that are too big will cause the MiSTer to not be able to use these "extra" sectors and it will cause some errors and problems with using that VHD.
I have made this near 8GB fat32 formatted VHD that might help others avoid this issue with this core. I had made a core and just set it to 8gb, and another one that was 32gb, and both ran into this problem with the unreadable sectors as MiSTer would only accept the first 8000 something MB.

Its only about 1mb compressed, but will unpack to be 8gb in size.

Re: bios limit on vhd sizes?
I would suggest having one disk for the file system (that only needs to be 2 to 4 GB) and then swap the second VHDs for games.
That will make the whole thing more stable and manageable.

Re: bios limit on vhd sizes?
I managed to make floppy boot disk that supports several memory configurations, mouse, ISO mount options and MiSTerFS support. Even has a file manager called Volkov Commander.

This does help quite a bit I think, because that puts all the system files on a floppy and makes it possible to use VHDs for games and such. A similar disk could be made using DOS 7.1 or DOS 6.22. 6.22 would not have FAT32 support though.
