Hi,
just want to show my new build. Had a MiSTer previously when the project started years ago, but was always dissatisfied with it because of the available options regarding the casing, so I sold the setup not long after and sticked with my MiST. Until recently when I decided to go with a JAMMIX and assemble it into a proper case.
One of the most important aspects to me was that the setup should look and feel like a "real" computer (as I mostly use the Minimig, AO486 and PC-XT cores). What I did:
- JAMMIX ITX board
- JAMMIX DB15 breakout
- A proper case, the Lian Li DAN A4-H2O SFF case
- Semi-passive SFX power supply
- Front USB ports from the case connected to a internal, powered USB hub
- Internal USB-SATA adaptor and a SSD on one of the hub's port's and a USB-RS232 adaptor on the other, mounted to a slot bracket.
- RTC
- Flexible microSD extension for easy access to the SD card
- WIFI and Bluetooth
How it looks:
PS: Don't mind the ugly 3D printed holder for the SSD, my printer had some issues at that time and I was too lazy to print it again as it works nonetheless.

What you mean with “normal case”. The JAMMIX needs a ITX case and the one i used is one of the smallest which satisfies my needs.

Hi everyone, wanted to share my first Mister setup. Took me about a week to get all the parts and planning but it’s worth it
The goal was to have it function like the original and visually look unmodified.
Highlights
All SFC buttons work; eject fully resets Mister back to main screen and reset (user button) resets the core - just like the real console. Used MX keyboard buttons - I learned the original SFC reset button is simply an MX keyboard button. Used a bottle cap to add length under eject button and reused the clear silicone caps that came with the DE10 fit perfectly over the MX key.
Tapto (PN532 and CP2102 usb) NFC installed under the SFC logo at the top right.
Controller ports 1 and 2 wired to a daemonbite (Arduino pro micro) work with original SFC/SNES controller and NES with cable swapped to SFC.
-Working power switch, re-used the original DC port and soldered wires to the DE10 nano.
- Working red power led (a happy bonus for wiring the daemonbite directly to the port pins).
Issue
The only trouble I ran into was the placement of the DE10. There were trade offs with both orientations. Decided to trim the multiport a bit as the HDMI port was about 2mm to low and 4mm to the right blocking part of the port. I reused the original mounting hole and added some standoffs to the base. Everything is very secure when plugging in cables. Did not need to trim or remove any material from the bottom, I did need to trim part of the cartridge slot and that’s about it.

I especially appreciate the clever use of the bottle cap to reach to switch in the bottom of the case. Nice work making it happen!
I believe that the Super Famicom is the most beautiful game console that ever existed - perhaps I'm biased because I was the perfect age to be influenced, around 12 years old, when the Super Famicom photo leaks were first appearing in video game magazines! I'm glad you've found a way to give this console new life, and it's great that you maintained proper controller ports.

Thanks, appreciate the kind words. I was inspired by other builds and have wanted something like this for more than a decade, tried with SBC and it never felt right. Wasn’t until I heard about the mister project last year that I got re-inspired.
Really wanted anyone to be able to use the SFC as it was, so preserving the original look and feel was important.
I had zero soldering skills before this so anyone considering a build just do it! Hope by sharing I solved some questions other might have in their approach and see more console builds. The SFC is indeed a great looking design even growing up with the SNES as a kid i was perplexed we never got the rainbow buttons that the console was originally shown in the early days.

Excellent build - must admit disappointed that no one has brought out specific mister cases in the style on some of the old consoles.

It's the same inside. The keyboard is mechanical with replaceable switches.

I think part of the mentality there is not selling the MiSTer short by making it look like an existing, singular console, especially when it can do so much more!
It would also make it that much harder to pick which console (and its available port layout) to base your whole setup on.
For MMS owners, these themed cases are pretty rad. There was talks of a snes style case but I couldn’t find it.

I like to introduce my "Nixie" MiSTer.
I always wanted a Nixie clock with original Nixie tubes (IN-18). So i thought why don't combine both.
Real retro i guess
The base is a selfmade veneered wood with Santos Palisander.
All partes are self designed and 3D printed with my RatRig 400 printer.
The MiSTer itself is a DE-10 with 128MB ram a USB Hub and an analog board.
I attached a MT-32 direct connected with a header. I also connected a tty2rpi and a nice display.
The power supplys are 5V/5A for the electronic the leds (ws2812b) and the MiSTer.
I also needed a 12V/1A for the Nixie tubes which are tranformed to about 180V.
The Nixie tube clock and the MiSTer are controlled with an ESP32 and MQTT support integrated in OpenHAB.
The ESP32 is programmed in Arduino with Visual Studio code.
I can control every parts of the lights in every RGB color and some other stuff (see attached pictures)
The MiSTer sign is self printed with my resin printer and the logo is gold plated with 24k gold leave.

Hello, I'm brand new to the community and I am in the planning stages for building my own MisterFPGA console. I'm picturing in my head a modular approach, with separate panels for front facing original controller ports using a snax64 adapter inside the case. This may or may not make sense (I'm still learning the ins and outs of the system). Has anyone built in the SNAC adapters along with the controller adapters inside their case to have original ports on the front of their custom system? Any reason why would recommend against this? I guess the easier approach would be to either extend the HDMI ports of the SNAX64 adapter or just make the adapter accessible in the front somehow. That way I would just need to plug in the SNAC controller adapters with each controller as I use them w/ the HDMI ports in the front. Sorry for blabbing. Just curious.
P.S. I would like to start diagraming this all out. Any good images I can use w/ proper dimensions for the DE-10 nano, Analog Pro, and USB hub to start planning my case?

All you swanky ones that have in Misters in Amiga, ST, and the like. How did you wire up the keyboard? Do you have to do it yourself? Or can you buy like an adaptor like a Keyrah that does it all?
Also, does anyone know of anyone who's making cases and the appropriate holes? Or are you using old computer case and keyboard, with lots of extensions, then creating new "ports" in the cases that you need?
Fancy doing an Amiga one. Or maybe a Spectrum+ if it will fit by placing the Mister at the edge connector.

The “Mistress” project has (non-destructive!) conversion kits for Amigas if you want to do that, but it looks like only the A600 kit is still in stock — I have never seen the A500/A1200 variants available:

Then again, the A600 is a great form factor for MiSTer, so if you can find a broken one, that’s a pretty great setup.

Mister Pi RAM Kit. I used the "Universal 5.2" case and heavily modified it for my use case.. has a 4 port USB hub now, OLED display, TapTo reader. Added the buttons and LEDs on the "blank" fan carrier board that comes with the RAM kit. TFT screen for tty2tft will also be added seperately at a later time.
Had to remove the bottom USB header to fit in the case, also directly wired the OLED to the LTC port (without going through the RTC board).
Only thing I couldn't figure out was a way to add a power switch without enlarging the case further.
