AmigaVision 2024.06.06 Released with Sensible World of Soccer Fixes, Castlevania & Turrican Updates

Unread post by limi »

We are happy to announce that the latest release of AmigaVision is available!

AmigaVision is the ultimate Amiga games & demo scene setup for MiSTer & Pocket FPGAs, emulators, and real Amiga hardware. Open source, community driven.

✅ General Improvements

  • This is a relatively small update, mostly to ensure that Sensible World of Soccer, in all its variants and editions, works properly.
  • Added optional MiSTer.ini settings for 1440p displays. Note that these will not use the 5×PAL Dynamic Crop, those are only active for 1080p and 4K displays.

🕹️ Game Highlights

Image

  • Sensible World of Soccer had several problems with loading tactics and English club teams in the past few releases. This has been fixed upstream, and you should now be able to play as Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne for Manchester City in the 2023/2024 season edition of SWOS!
  • New June update of Castlevania AGA, includes a music test menu and a new character sprite, as well as other fixes.
  • Turrican 3 now supports the full set of CD32 buttons, making it much better to play with a gamepad — if you played Mega Turrican or Super Turrican on the Mega Drive or Super Nintendo respectively, you should really check out this version!
  • 8 games identified as running with the wrong settings, fixed.
  • Game configurations are current with WHDLoad as of 2024-06-05.

🛠️ Stay Updated & Help Us Make AmigaVision Even Better

If you find any bugs or settings that need improvements, file a ticket on the AmigaVision web site.

AmigaVision is an open source project, and we welcome contributions from the community. GitHub Pull Requests are very welcome!

You can follow us on Mastodon, Twitter or via RSS, and updates will be posted when new releases happen.

Enjoy the best of what the Amiga platform has to offer!

Ugh - I wish I'd said something before this release, maybe next time. =)

Please consider adding the OCS release of "James Pond 2: Codename RoboCod" in addition to the existing AGA release. It's actually an entirely different game (in the sense that the levels are totally different). :)

i wish someone would do this for the Atari ST/e core .. (dont look at me, im too stupid to compile all that) ... and someone would add easyflash support to the c64 too, but thanks, this is always great to have, looking forward to many more editions, i never got to know amiga until i got a mister and even if i like it im still convinced its the ultimate cheat-machine for lazy coders ... real men dont use blitters , men with beards dont use coppers hahah , thanks !!!!

It requires a real computer, not an Atari ST ;)

I assume you have checked out OneLoad64?

it's great to see the old rivalry between amiga and atari is still with us.. ;)  a bit like between spectrum and c64 owners..
as we all know the spectrum is best - despite the results of Judge Drokks recent twitter poll..
just for completeness, I too would love an AtariVision version.

That's not a real problem - see here for demo compilations I did.
There are already some hdd images with tons of games, but w/o a menu to select one. And there are hundreds (if not thousands) of hdd-ready patched games. The big task here is to collect all of them, assemble and test them. Last but not least, where to share the result without getting into legal problems?

If you are talking about archive.org, they did have to fend off a major DDoS attack the other day, so the site wasn’t working right.

There is an issue with adding Sensible World of Soccer 96/97 , or Sensible World of Soccer 23/24 to favourites by TAB.
It is saying that is added to favourites but it never is. Other games like cannon fodder working fine , or first version of swos from whatever reason
Tested with fsuae.

By the way, i tried to check manually what is the problem but cannot see Favourites.ags in ags folder.
Where is that folder set ?

I am using tapto and want to add: Apidya to one of my NFC Cards but didn't find a entry in the games.txt searching Apidya gives no hit.
Am I doing something wrong?

not sure , should we just assume amigavision has the license to all content on the files ? but you're right, even for 30yo stuff some nintendo-like folk might make a fuss - and so we have to live underground ?

That's it! If we want to live free and undisturbed, we have to live underground.
License? Pah! Nobody (should) care about a shared Frogger (representing) ROM file, but - and you named them (Nirvanendo) - every day an asshole gets up and sues you.

I don’t know too much about how the Steam Deck is set up, I assume you are using RetroArch or something like that? I think the two most popular emulators (puae and Amiberry) can both load HDF hard disk images.

Hello,

On mister, how to disable dynamic vadjust ?
I want just launch the games in them original resolutions without adusting (for example, without cropping the viewport to 216 lines, and other stuffs)

Why?
I have a unico phoenix screen (4:3 not 16:9), and I want to test the games in full screen with vscale_mode=5
with video_mode_ntsc=1600,1200,60, it's interresting for me to play with the Full Screen aspect ratio
idem with pal games with video_mode_ntsc=1600,1280,50

Thanks,

“Options” in the launcher has an on/off setting for it.

The 5×PAL crop/zoom should only apply in 1080p. If it is activated in 1600×1200 (or any other resolution, for that matter), that’s a bug in the core and should be reported in the issue tracker.

Sorry if this has been mentioned but I noticed the newer versions of AmigaVision are much smaller than the original one I have. How do I install? I assume they are just updates and I don't want to overwrite my original VHD.

You just replace the MegaAGS.hdf file. Your saves are stored in the other HDF.

If you are upgrading from a 2023 version or earlier, you might want to double check that the MiSTer.ini file has the correct settings according to the documentation too.
