What do the 3 pins actually do? What do they actually connect to?

If you have that on your ram its an Ancient design. It would be advisable to just get a new Ram expansion.

This shows those 3 pins going into the header pins on the Main Board. Its a very ancient design though and all newer boards dont do it this way

you would need to get the DE10 pin outs from its tech docs and work out which pins were involved

The header is the same pinout as an Arduino R3. If it's the 3 pins on the end of GPIO0, then it is SCL, SDA and Analog Vref. If it's GPIO1, then it's 3 analog input pins. It's D0, D1 and D2 on the Arduino header, and those pins are only present on the GPIO0 side. I'm not 100% sure, but it looks like there is an alternate position for GPIO1, but that prevents the use of an I/O board. My I/O board has a notch for the 3 pins on the GPIO0 side.
