ao486 disk images only works from "root" folder.

Unread post by pedgarcia »

Hi all,

I just got a Mister + MT32-pi for my birthday and I am in love with this little device!

I am trying now to run some DOS games using the ao486 core and I struggled to get a disk image to boot.

With the help of some articles here, I managed to get it working, but I can only make any image boot and work if I place the files under my SD card/games/ao486 folder, where the rooms are located. This is true for floppy or HD images.

The funny part is that for example, I have the HD image with ms-dos in ide0-0 and it boots fine. As soon as I add another HD or floppy image from another folder (e.g. /games/ao486/media/gameXYZ not only gameXYZ doesn't work but also it cannot boot anymore using the ms-dos image in the IDE0-0. As soon as I remove the second image from the subfolder, it boots ms-dos from the "root" folder perfectly.

To test it further, I moved some game images from the subfolder into the "root" folder and they work fine there.

Is this an expected behaviour? I think it is unlikely and maybe I am missing something.

BTW, from what I gather I have everything up to the latest version (cores, etc).

Thanks

Paulo

The 486 is going to boot from a floppy if it finds one. That's on the BIOS of the simulated PC.

I am still in the dark here. I had installed the 0MHz DOS Collection and all the games are listed.

From what I understand, there is no further setup. You click in any game from the _DOSGames folder and they should start, right?

Maybe I will try to capture my steps doing it and you guys can see what I am doing wrong...

Thanks

Paulo
