I'm in the Netherlands and just bit the bullet and ordered two Daptor adapters from the US. Found out the D9 had grounding-related jitter problems with paddles and generously received PDL adapters as a replacement.

May i ask what casette player you are using for adc? Is it working well?

Sorry for the necropost, but it turned out that 40 years later, the Atari paddles of reality don't correspond very well to my fond memories. The potentiometer inputs jump around so much some games are barely playable.
I ended up just building my own USB paddle controller: https://github.com/dhorlick/rooster
Thunderstick Studios's spinner is pretty great.

Really classic looking controller, nice job!
I just really thoroughly cleaned the potentiometers of my original Atari paddles and they work quite well.

You can get brand new ones now and they work great (when they work properly - right now my paddle buttons are not recognized).

Interesting… I see some accounts on fora of CX30+'s exhibiting jitter, too. It looks like they also use potentiometers, which are electro-mechanical devices that strain over time and wear-out.
For what it's worth, Thunderstick Studio's spinner uses Hall Effect sensors, which employ magnets for contact-free input. Consequently, they work well and should last a very long time.

They both have their place. So far these new ones have no jitter in my case.
I also made my own spinner paddle and it is fantastic feeling:viewtopic.php?p=39990#p39990
This is an older photo - I have since replaced the knob with the Tron version:

However, I also love the original feeling of the original paddles that I grew up with.
P.S. I really like the look of yours too, especially the switches. Mine was designed with hand holding in mind.

Nice! Very compact, too… I'll bet the new Tron styling looks sharp.
I like them, too… maybe I will have to give the CX30+'s a try, based on your recommendation.
I generally prefer original controllers, or close approximations. But I must confess that I'm starting to run out of space to store them all!
Thank you. Mine actually can be held, since the sides of the box are rounded-off. But it does get uncomfortable after a while.

Thanks for the tip. Time to buy more cotton swabs and isopropyl alcohol!

I used three sprays, a potentiometer 'tuner' cleaning spray, a washing spray (to get rid of the cleaning spray residu and debris) and a spray that protects and lubricates the potentiometer. Used in that order.
I opened up the potentiometer itself to be able to clean it as well as possible.
All these sprays are made by 'Kontakt Chemie", don't know in which other countries this is sold.
And, like I mentioned here before, I had a grounding problem (only the wall sockets in the kitchen are grounded here) causing jittering and the Daptor PDL fixed that. Really unfortunate that the Daptor adapters are not being made anymore.

Good information. Thanks again, LamerDeluxe!

Increasingly common problem!
Seems like it wouldn't be that hard to build one… but I imagine it might be tricky to calibrate well.

Glad to be of help! I was also starting to think about how difficult it would be to clone them. Maybe the author would be interested in open sourcing the code for them.

Thanks! Yeah, it looks nice with the black Tron knob. I like the CX30+'s better than the originals. Same shape, better feel. Since I am having problems with the buttons right now though, and we are talking about this stuff, I decided to play some games again last night with my GRS one and played really well. Got over 3000 in Kaboom on my second try and over 19000 in Eggomania. Astroblast didn't go so well though. I think I just wasn't in the mood to play that one because it can go on forever.
I also replaced the pots in one set of my originals with really high quality ones. I had to file it down, but they are really nice, only a little loose feeling. https://www.digikey.com/en/products/det ... QBEQBdAXyA I got a different Ohms rating to make them turn further when playing. I like the CX30+'s better than these too.
I also am running out of space for all my controllers. I have them in large drawers and the drawers are full. I have each console's controllers stored together in large zip lock bags in the drawers. Usually a bunch just end up all over the place before I finally put them all back away again and start over with pulling them out as I need them.
That's cool that you can also handhold yours. It's nice to have options.

It's strange, both you and rhester72 seem to be having problems with paddle fire buttons using 2600daptors, but mine work perfectly with both D9 and PDL adaptors.
I sent my working controller config files to rhester72, but I believe he was still having trouble getting the paddle buttons working.

Don't forget to assign the paddle buttons in each core as well, fire is one of the buttons and 'paddle' is the other one, at least with the 7800 core (IIRC). And indeed use the paddle config files that have been attached in threads here a couple of times, either for the D9 or the PDL (or change the PID yourself to make the D9 one into a PDL one).

Re: Daptor-2600 D9 with 2600 Paddles? [Solved]
Thanks! It was working fine when I first got my CX30+ paddles, then when I went to use them again later, it stopped working. I was frustrated and did not try to fix the issue and just turned it off. I am still hoping for SNAC paddle support someday, and that is part of why I held back from trying to fix it. If SNAC was available, that is the way I would always use it because it is so much easier and reliable. I will probably try to fix it again sooner or later so I can use my new paddles. Perhaps I remapped the joystick buttons in the core with the D9 attached and broke it. I was playing around with other Atari controllers recently, so maybe that was when I may have done it.

I got it working again. I replaced the .map files again from the zip file and it did the trick. One of my map files had a July 2024 date on it, so I must have remapped at that time and broke it. Thanks again for the help.
