Dear @Flandango, thanks so much for your detailed reply. It is clear my instructions are missing a very important step: Put the disk for saves into the drive before starting! Sorry to waste your time. I will update the instructions now.

My offer to kick down some money on patreon, paypal, or whatever still stands. Let me know how!

Thanks very much.

No waste of time, glad you got it working!
And thanks for the money offer, but there is no need...I'm doing it for fun :)

PSA: the excellent CRPG for TI, Realms Of Antiquity is currently on sale at 10$ (till 29th of March). It's bundled with an emulator, so you can play it on Windows.

Q: Does anybody know how to get it running on this core? I tried messing around with SAMS, TIPI and some assorted roms, but my TI skills are near 0 so I'm not quite sure what I'm doing.

It's been a while since I last played it but here is the general setup to run that game:

  1. Make sure you save a backup copy of the floppy disks...If I recall correctly they are written/saved to by the game

  2. Under the Hardware menu, I have SAMS enabled, don't worry about TIPI if you don't have one.

  3. If you haven't already assigned a Disk DSR rom, you'll need to do that. I am using MyArc's 80track dsr, but any should work. If you don't have any, in this thread, TMOP has posted his Mega pack, it will have them in there.

  4. Assign the 3 disks to the 3 drives (1=ROAGAME, 2= ROAWORLD12, 3=ROAWORLD34)

  5. Change Cart Type to Paged378

  6. Load Rom Cart = roacart.bin

Thank you for these informative pages.
I have been trying for some time to load my own programmes in Extended Basic.
On the Classic 99 emulator for the PC this works without problems with OLD DSK1.ALADIN
If I include the *.dsk in the FPGA, I get an I/O Error 02 with the same commands.
Can anyone help me with this?
You find the file enclosed.
Does it perhaps work with autoload? But how does it work, i.e. how do I convert a DSK or file so that it is automatically loaded in EX-Basic?
Thank you very much.

Hey @flandango just wondering if you have made any updates to the F18 and TIPI cores recently? I am keen to get back into using these and any other cores you may be working on....:)

Seriously if you need someone to do some detailed testing I am happy to help. 👍

Sorry Mnielsenau, I haven't had much free time to work on any of the cores. Thanks for volunteering to help with testing the cores. When I do get some time to revisit them, I'll definitely hit you up.

Hi everyone,

I am not a power user at all. I am enjoying my MiSTer for a few weeks now.
Just so you know I couldn't find any "How to" video on Youtube (although it looks like there were existing a few years ago if I refer to this thread). For instance this video from the second post of this thread is set to private, I can't watch: viewtopic.php?p=204#p204

I have no issue playing most of consoles/arcade games, but TI99-4a seems like a whole new challenge!

I have downloaded a pack of TI99-4a games named with 2 folders in it:

  • Command modules
  • Various

In each folder there are games in the form of a zip file.
Inside of the zip file is a file with a .g extension.

My MiSTer is updated (september 2024) with update_all script and all possible stuff checked for download.

I'm launching the TI99-4a core and I am asked to load either:

  • full cart *.M99,BIN
  • Rom cart *.BIN
  • Grom Cart *.BIN

From here I have started to look for roms as .bin files.

I was able to find a FinalGROM99.zip file but sadly there is no PARSEC in it :(
Anyway, I have tried to load one of these bin files and all I have is a black screen.
I guess my problem must come from the fact there is no boot.rom in the TI99-4a folder.

So from here, if you think the missing bios is my issue, where can I find the BIOS file (aka boot.rom if I'm correct)?

I searched the web and it seems like this one is hard to find.

Thank you!

Check the core wiki: https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/TI-99_4 ... ree/master

You should have 994aROM.BIN and 994AGROM.BIN in your "/media/fat/games/TI-99_4A" folder or thereabouts.
Then go into MiSTer OSD >> Hardware >> Select System Grom (994AGROM.BIN) and >> Select System Rom (994aROM.BIN)

Then find a Parsec rom somewhere (I recommend tmop's pack which is linked to in this thread) and use parsec.bin - Load Full Cart in OSD - it should work no problem (as well as other games).

I'm no expert on TI, so somebody can perhaps elaborate on that, but it should get you going.

I checked it before posting but it didn't help much because...

You should have 994aROM.BIN and 994AGROM.BIN in your "/media/fat/games/TI-99_4A" folder or thereabouts.

That's my main problem :D I cannot find those files, either on my microSD or on a quick Google search.

Where are they hidden? :P

They can be a little challenging to find, as they need to be converted from other formats.

That being the case, see here:

for all the system ROMs and at the bottom of this page:

for a whole bunch of software.

On the world wide web? ;)

It's not too bad, literally the 1st link in my "994AROM.BIN" startpage query.

The new V4.2.0 of the TI99 MegaPack is now available at ti99iuc site (the link is at the end of the page):

https://www.ti99iuc.it/web/index.php?pa ... &artid=194

It includes the new homebrews and other updates. I've added some "unofficial" .rbf from Flandango, that I hope could be added/included in the official repository in the future.

Disc Problems

Unread post by bazonga-press@gmx.net »

I was able to solve the problem with loading Extended-Basic programs from disc:
In the current version Ti994a_20220220.rbf I was able to load from disc if I had previously created them as Single Side Single Density (SSSD) with the program TI99DIR (version ti99dir91a).
