Re: Atari System 1 & 2
While I appreciate it's there, Digital input was never an option for Road Runner. This game had an Hall Effect Joystick that was capable of moving in (nearly) all directions and in 3 different speeds, like it is advertised in attract mode.
There is also a test routine for the joystick in the diagnostics. That said, the analog joystick is perfect for emulating the hall effect joystick, it is just a little bit too sensitive at the moment. I don't know if that's possible, but it would be great to make it less sensitve. At the moment, full speed is already reached with very little movement. Thank you very much for you effort and for this core.

Re: Atari System 1 & 2
I also can't get digital controls to work for the RoadBlasters pedals. Digital controls are fine in all others cores. Not sure if this helps anyone...

games/mame/.zip/none not found
Has anyone else gotten this error and/or know how to solve it. I've ran update all again thinking that would solve it, but no luck.
Non of the system game roms are there ..... does update all not grab these?

Re: Atari System 1 & 2
I have been having a lot of fun with Marble Madness – works really well with an old Logitech mouse/trackball I have lying around. Also Road Runner plays pretty well with the NSO N64 controller.
However, on CRT all the System 1 games are slightly cropped at the bottom. Is there a way of fixing this, or will it eventually be tweaked when the core is finalised?
Re: Atari System 1 & 2
I am having trouble running the core. When I try to open Marble Madness I get an error:
games/mame/atarisy1.zip/none
none not found
Anyone know how to remedy this? I never had this issue with any other arcade game I've tried to play.
Re: Atari System 1 & 2
Hy everybody. I bought my MiSTer mainly for Marble Madness and I'm a huge fan. Maybe somebody wants to visit my ancient Marble Madness site including an interview with programmer Marc Cerny: http://bodenstandig.de/marble/
I'd really like to build a 2 trackball setup specially for Marble Madness. But until now, two connected (Logitech) USB trackballs can only steer one marble (as it was possible for the one player game in the arcade). There seems to be no way to do a two player game. Will that change? Is it theoretically possible to use more than one mouse/trackball in MiSTer?
I'd also like to find a way to use two Atari CX 80 Trackballs. Maybe somebody has an idea about it, the USB to 9-pin-adapter I have does not support trackballs.
I also have a little problem with some missing pixels at the bottom of the screen as other people already mentioned. Using the service mode of my two Loewe SCART-RGB TVs (from 1992 and 1993), I can fix this for one of the TVs but not for the other.
Thank you for the great Atari System 1&2 core, it really makes the world a better place!
Re: Atari System 1 & 2
Just playing Marble Madness with a freshly oiled Xarcade 3"-Trackball on a Loewe RGB-CRT-TV. Works great! Plays great!
Here are the remaining glitches:
The service mode settings cannot be saved. I'd like to set the game to "very easy" forever.
The first four highscore entries are not saved. In the original hardware, only the first four highscores are saved forever.
Trackball sensitivity can only be 1:2 or 1:4. The correct one for the Xarcade-Trackball would be something like 1:3.
Elephant in the room:
No two player game with two trackballs. I understand that the marble core cannot change this without changes elsewhere in the MiSTer project.

Re: Atari System 1 & 2
You can fine tune trackball sensitivity using the mouse_throttle setting in mister.ini (assuming your trackball presents as a mouse).
Re: Atari System 1 & 2
The Xarcade trackball has very good results with mouse_throttle = 5 (mister.ini) and trackball sensitivity 1:2 (Marble madness menu). I have to push the ball very hard to do the bonus jumps in level one (as it was in the arcade) and still do not lose trackball tracking if I push too hard. I never had such a good steering in the last 25 years of marble madness emulation.

When I remember right, you were not too happy with this Trackball when you visited me 10 years ago.
But I think it is very good after oiling it a bit.
It seems to be available here:

Please tell us if you really got one at wolfsoft, I'll need a second one in case that two trackballs are supported in MiSTer-Marble Madness.

Re: Atari System 1 & 2
I have to try. As far as I remember, it was pretty impossible with the original Arcade machine, wasn't it?

Re: Atari System 1 & 2
Honestly I don't remember. Never made it on emulation.
Re: Atari System 1 & 2
No, I did not succeed. Even not with more trackball sensitivity/marble speed.
I only could do 5000.
